Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Holloway, Dylan [RFA Rights]
  2. 2024 1st round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Montreal received another asset for their rebuild. Holloway had only 9 points in 51 games last season. This year, he only got 1 goal in 14 games before he got injured.
EDM
  1. Matheson, Michael
  2. Pezzetta, Michael
Additional Details:
Edmonton had a difficult start of season but are now in a playoff spot. I think Cody Ceci is struggling this season and a new defenseman should be add in their top 4 with Bouchard, Nurse and Elkhom. Plus, Pezzetta could add some energy on a 4th line.
(TDL 2024)
2.
MTL
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (NYI)
  2. 2024 4th round pick (TOR)
  3. 2024 5th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Montreal get mid draft picks.
TOR
  1. Savard, David
Additional Details:
Toronto get a solid defenseman that block a lot of puck.
3.
MTL
  1. Huberdeau, Jonathan
  2. 2024 1st round pick (CGY)
  3. 2024 6th round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
I see this trade like Anderson for Huberdeau and a first round pick for no retained salary on Huberdeau and for Struble.
CGY
  1. Anderson, Josh
  2. Kovacevic, Johnathan
  3. Struble, Jayden
Additional Details:
Calgary is probably gonna trade Tanev and Hanifin so they need defenseman. I think Struble and Kovacevic is good for them because they will probably try to get a younger team and those two defenseman are young and already NHL level.
4.
MTL
    Anywhere for anything.
    No retained salary.
    5.
    MTL
    1. Zegras, Trevor
    Additional Details:
    Caufield finally play with Zegras.
    ANA
    1. Beck, Owen
    2. Monahan, Sean
    3. 2024 1st round pick (EDM)
    Additional Details:
Anaheim flip Monahan and get a potential top 6 and a first round pick.
Monahan could easily get a first round pick.

So... Holloway is an interesting gamble. There is no doubt that trading Matheson makes the Habs significantly worse this season, so this would be a tank move.

I like the fact that you kinda replace what Holloway is bringing with Pez. Good character guy as the 13th forward.

I wonder if Matheson is the player EDM is looking for though. They might prefer forward depth, or heavy Blueliners like Struble, Xhekaj, Savard.

Zadorov (ufa) was traded for a 3rd and Cond 5th. Savard would hold similar value to zadorov. Obviously adding value to Savard as hes under contract for another year. For sure this has the makings of a deal that could get done.

I actually hate the volume of middling picks trade. I would rather have a B- prospect who's career is on life support.

We have so many picks & prospects already... and this league has contract limits! We need to take risks.

I’d send you niemela 1-1 we value him at a high second he’s playing very well in the ahl I think he gets in 9 games next year and then full time the year after that it might be a bit of an overpayment though we’d probably like a 5th coming back but only time will tell

24 1st Slafkovsky Reinbacker Xhekaj — yes a joke but still, will be insanely expensive

I don't see Matheson as being the type of Dman EDM would pursue using such assets. I'll take Pezzetta for a 5th, though.

its a bit counterproductive to dismiss trade proposal on post and just joke when asked to contribute to discussions. what if he was to be moved for whatever reasons, what are the ducks needs you feel?

I do a Topi for Savard deal all day. Not all prospects make the NHL, so we need to cast a wide net to get the best. Habs fans should focus on how good Struble has been and what a surprise he's been before turning a deal like that one down.

    Absolutely correct.

Right now (i.e., prior to the trade deadline, when he will still be on the LTIR list), with multiple injuries this season, his trade value is at a cannot-go-lower low. It is possible that if he rehabilitates his true value when he returns and plays out the balance of the season at a point-a-game pace, Anaheim might consider trading him in the off-season, but only if presented with the proper offer. As we Anaheim stalwarts have maintained all along, unless someone like Slafkovsky (HIGHLY unlikely) or Reinbacher is included, or Montreal's 2024 first plus excellent prospects at RW and RhD, the Ducks are perfectly happy to continue with him on the roster. We have no real incentive to move him because whatever the return might be, that won't put us over the top any more than having him and Mintyukov and Carlsson healthy will -- more is needed and will take at least a season or two to arrive.

Habs don't consider moving Savard for a bunch of mid round junk picks. That would be the equivalent of trading him 1 for 1 for Campbell or Armia. It's just a worthless move for the Habs, especially when you factor in the fact that we already have 9 picks in the 3-5 rounds of the next 2 drafts, why do we need 3 more?

i think there more likely option would be a package built around mtl's first, which would end up around 8 to 6 i believe. but i dont believe one bit zegras would be traded to MTL.
