Too much additions to the core. You will change your core too much and create inbalance VS what made you go into playoff in the first place (kinda like what happened last year with Kane and Tarasenko)

We're out of gas. With Chytil & Kakko out all year, we've been running on fumes with spares. Our core needs help, like this

Not saying value isn't fair but I think we would be pushing for a top forward prospect over a bunch of picks.

Adding 2 depth pieces vs adding 2 guys that were power play guys… very different. This is more comparable to adding Copp and Vatrano. Kane was extremely injured and was a powerplay guy. Senko was decent too but what kill them in the playoffs was actually the coach changing the powerplay completely. Then somehow managed to be goalied by a hot streak from the kid. NJ was by far the faster team but we dominated in every other way except for their G stood on his head. Don’t think he has even played a game as good as he did in playoffs since

Top prospects are usually traded for higher caliber players than Monahan (Giroux)

I figured. I might be alone on this but I’d think Verbeek would be looking for prospects in the 19-21 year old range that could be in San Diego or Anaheim next year. Hence thinking Berard. But value wise I think the trade is fine

Berard like Cuylle are the guys they should be keeping and putting in the bottom 6. Berard has been better than Othmann at 5v5 in the AHL

Hughes already said that the goal is to be in the playoffs next year, adding more 1st round picks instead of NHL ready prospects is counter productive to that goal. I never said the Rags should or would do it, I just said that is likely the preference over picks

Imbalance to our core? Not a single person traded in those deals were on this team last year or the year before (except Jones but he doesnt count).

Berard is a 5'9, 160lb offensive type forward... hes not built for the bottom 6 unless he grows an inch or 2, gains 30lbs and develops a physical aspect to his game. Hes also a left handed shooter which means hes likely destined to be a LW, a position we are head over heels stacked with.

Take whos TOI? Bonino? Pitlick? Brodzinski? Wheeler? Are you serious? Im not a huge fan of Monahan being traded to the Rangers... but to imply that both Monahan and Henrique would some how affect this team negatively because of the players that are now benched is outrageous.

You clearly don’t know Berard because his “offense” was never his strong suit. He legit is built to be a bottom 6 grinder/forechecker with offensive upside just like Sykora lol

he’s outperforming Othmann right now on 5v5 which the rangers need more of lol size means nothing if you can play. He’s been playing RW while Othmann has been strictly LW. Also That’s also probably not even his most recent size measurements

Well, for a team that needs all that, its clearly not good enough to bump the pensioners were putting out there.

So instead of promoting Berard next year, you’d rather sign a Pitlick or Bonino type player because Berard is “too small” or a LW

Berard like anyone else needed AHL time. The same reason othmann isn’t up. Look at the difference 1 year in the AHL did for cuylle and now everyone loves him

I was always a fan of Cuylle, I knew right out the gate the kid was gonna be good.

I just called them pensioners, unless you dont know what that is, then you'd understand that Im not a fan of a big portion of the bottom 6.

Yea because this is the 2nd year in a row that Drury has struck out for bottom 6 depth meanwhile boston signs a guy like Heinen who’s playing well
