if CBJ are willing to retain that much, 3M for merz would be such a great deal and give us more confidence in our tandem for only 5.6M which would allow us to be so much more flexible cap wise.
The question is if the CBJ would want a basically 7.4M goalie to play backup for the next 3 szns

Lol you want Elvis after his game tonight? Did you even watch the game? He looked like trash. Let me guess, you are the same Oilers fans who thought Skinner was trash. You guys really don’t know anything about goaltending. The fact that you saw the **** Jack Campbell contract and wanna pay up to do it all over again with an equally **** Elvis says it all. Let’s review Elvis’s performance tonight:

First goal he’s doing the splits and all out of position. Notice how even when he’s in the splits the entire under-crotch area isn’t sealed. Notice how his right pad is INSIDE the goal line. He’s literally convering like 30% of the floor of the ice when he could be covering 90% with proper technique. A good and calm goalie goes into the butterfly slide and seals the ice.

On the McDavid disallowed goal. He should be in the butterfly to seal his 5 hole. Instead he goes into an RVH and a badly executed RVH at that as as he’s too busy in the net and opens up his 5 hole even tho the RVH should have that covered and under his right pad should be the weakness.

2nd GA was a tough one. I wouldn’t put that on Elvis but he completely loses the puck with all the bounces. That happens tho to many goalies with the bang bang puck movement that happened in this goal. Still you could argue he should have backed up to the goal line on instinct to cover more angles if he didn’t know where the puck was bouncing.

3GA was on Gudbranson. But Elvis sold the contact instead of attempting to stay up and in position. That’s what Diva goalies do who have no confidence, they look for shortcuts and cheats.

Elvis blows. Last year he was as bad as Jack Campbell, and given a larger sample size this year he’ll have around the same numbers suitable for the AHL. The fact that you’d pay a 1st and Broberg to swap one crappy goalie in Jack for Elvis tells me Oil Country has no idea when it comes to goaltending.

Imagine telling on yourself this bad and thinking you’re the one who knows what’s going on. Did you even watch that game? That was an average goaltender being hung out to dry by his horrible defense over and over. The second Oilers goal was directly Andrew Peeke’s fault for disconnecting his controller. Another was Gudbranson’s fault for literally pushing Zach Hyman into him (Hyman also flopped like a fish on the play, but I respect that I guess). If you don’t even understand hockey enough to see the context of a goaltender’s performance, don’t run your mouth on message boards about it.

I hope he is dealt, because Elvis is exhausting. This ain’t it because of the retention, but I look forward to his departure. But not because he sucks as a goalie.

so does that mean the edmonton skater who (legally!) flopped towards the goalie also is a diva with no confidence, as they were looking for a shortcut/cheat? ur analysis of elvis's game last night is not good, hope that helps!

Elvis slander, justified or not, aside...retaining $2.4M per year and taking Campbell back is out of the question. Like, "remove the 3rd and add another 1st" out of the question.

Actually I do think that Hyman sold that. He can be a bit greasy. But that’s what you want from an elite net front presence. My analysis of Elvis is bang on. I suspect some GMs feel the same way, as there were zero takes for Elvis when he was in the market recently.

I literally said Gudbranson was at fault for Hyman shove. And I said that I wouldn’t put the 2nd GA against Elvis too. They were team defence faults but that doesn’t mean Elvis couldn’t have played those better.

Funny how you ignore the 1st GA and the McDavid GA that was disallowed. I’ll take that as you agree that Elvis’s technique was bad for those goals. And it was. Bad goalies have bad technique. Elvis is not a good goalie, Jarmo knows it too. There’s a reason Jarmo had him on the market recently, and there’s a reason there were ZERO takers.
