He does have a lot of miles on him but you're only asking him to play about 15-20 regular season games and playoffs so there's probably just enough tread left on the tires to at least be useful. He scored 21 goals on 38 year-old legs last season so I'd say it's worth it to have a savvy veteran you can play in in the bottom six 10-12 minutes a night.

I'd think he could be an Injury replacement, give Cogs some rest; could probably just as easily play 4RW in place of Kivi. Having bottom six depth with scoring upside isn't bad to have around, even if he is ancient, LOL. The fact that he costs nothing to acquire is a big plus.

I don’t see this happening, but I guess I’d be fine with it. Kiviranta hasn’t been special and keeping MacDermid out of the lineup is great. As long as he’s not playing meaningful minutes, whatever. I’d much prefer to have a bona fide 4th liner to PK and take face offs.

Kirivanta hasn't really done nothing. Neither has olofsson and especially macdermid.
