Never thought I'd say this to a habs fan but ask for more. Habs shouldn't accept this without Allen.

Oilers will reject this offer, sorry but you won't be getting rid of him to us.

The Oilers have figured out their goaltending and now have time to figure out what to do with Campbell. This deal, although fair for getting out from under Campbells contract, doesn't make sense right now.

Issue with Oilers is more Cap room than goaltending. Now do the trade to Sharks or Jackets(onces Elvis is moved), that may fix the cap issue.

This is Edmonton getting rid of Campbell, not the other way around.
It's also not enough for Montreal to do them that favor.

Have they? Or are they running a young goaltender on a hot streak into the ground, risking injury or exhaustion that will destroy their playoff hopes, with no backup plan should the worst come to pass?
I'm not advocating for Allen specifically, he's not the only possibility, but I do believe they should dump Campbell's contract (if at all possible) and/or pick up a stronger backup than Pickard (who has played all of 25 games in the NHL over the last 6 years and never in the playoffs).

IF they can move Campbell's contract, they can bolster the roster further and afford more goaltending options, so it does make sense. It's a question of the cost to do so.
People point at a buyout being the preferable option, but this team already has a good chunk of dead cap and no room to maneuver. It will only get worse if they add more dead cap with a buyout.

I think Edmonton should swap Campbell for someone else's cap dump who might be of more use to the Oilers like a bottom six guy or dman, yes the Oilers would still have to pay to dump Campbell but taking back a bad contract say that's got a smaller AAV might soften the dumping cost a bit.

Another Lucic/Neal swap basically.

They've won 14 in a row!! I mean...sure they are running Skinner hard but the way they are playing right now they could through Campbell in and probably not miss a beat. No need to give up a first to move him

Pickard has faired just fine, either Campbell bounces back which could be very likely and be Skinners true back up or we buy him out at 1.5M in the offseason. We don't need another sled and give up assets for him....
