He was just traded for 12OA and two 2nds. A player of his caliber if being traded as a rental nets a 1st + as a deadline deal any given year. Much like the Hagel trade, I expect there to be a significant return because he's got years left. If he's traded at this year's deadline, the receiving team gets him for two playoff runs or 1.5 years.

The ask is going to be for a 1st and two 2nds back in return to start it off, but it comes with the understanding that the 1st is more likely to be 20-32 than as high as 12OA. They'll want to get "what they paid for" in that sense.

Now if Ottawa decides to retain 50% until he's at $2.3M? Going to start with two 1sts, and go from there.

Ottawa needs are: RD, Good defensive wingers, picks and prospects.

Cap space for Tampa and the fact they have very few picks would make this tricky.

Maybe:

2026 1st (top 10 protected)
Perbix
Howard
2024 3rd

I assumed Cernak would not be available. Not sure if Perbix would be either.

Honestly, I don't see this making sense for either team really. The package I listed would be the least I assume Ottawa would accept, since the pick is 2026. They would really need to like Perbix.

Curious what Ottawa fans say. But this would be a hard trade to make for both teams.

Not joking but the Jeannot trade could be a good comp. 1-5 + Perbix (vs Foote)

Value wise would be basically similar to the package I listed as well.

So I think you are on the right track!
