Yeah that was a weird decision. I would have just kept petry on the roster and shipped out Kovacevic

They had a few draft picks. Maybe Mtl souldn't retaine on the Tanne deal that was propose.

You're hysterically overvaluing UFA Sean Monahan. We're certainly not spending our first on him, and if we trade Kaliyev, it will probably be for a LhD youngster.

By the way, Kaliyev has 175 NHL games under his belt and over the past 94 games, is scoring at a rate of slightly under a half-point per game -- i.e., higher than Juraj Slafkovsky over the same period.

Mantha is not a cap dump. He has been playing well in DC and will likely net a mid round pick at the deadline, the Capitals will have no interest in sending him off for nothing.
