Chychrun to STL seems interesting 🤔
If I was OTT, I wouldn’t trade Chychrun.

Has anyone credible said anything about Chychrun? Because there's nothing out of Ottawa, and both Staios and Chychrun have recently poured cold water on those speculations.

Even assuming that he is in play, this deal isn't it for Ottawa. Vrana and Scandella are effectively cap dumps for Ottawa, and I just don't see more picks and prospects being the solution at all. They aren't sellers, any big trade needs to make the NHL team better.

Bolduc was a 1st round pick. This is a fair offer . Their 1st will be in the teens too

Bolduc is what pays for dumping Vrana and Scandella.

So, it's the Blues' 2024 1st for Chychrun and Lassi.

Ottawa declines.

Bolduc is a high price to dump vrana and scandella. It is more likely that Vrana and Scandella get dealt to other teams in separate deals. I don't know who Lassi is and don't necessairly need him, which would mean that a deal could be Bolduc and a 2024 1st for Chycrun.

Bolduc and a 2024 1st for Chychrun makes a lot more sense for Ottawa.

Expiring contracts can still be cap dumps.

Scandella isn’t a dump. Vrana is. But if you are expecting no salary coming back this year you’re out to lunch.

Scandella, bolduc, and a first for chychrun. thats two firsts and a LHD to help cover chychruns absence.

vrana lassi swap. both went on waivers and could probably use a change of scenery. i could add a later round pick with vrana if that helps get lassi

I'm expecting a fair deal for Ottawa or no deal at all.

Regardless if salary is coming back this year.

Including Vrana is completely unnecessary for both teams.

You seem to be expecting what the Sens paid for him. If that’s the case, good luck.

Why? 20th OA pick and Bolduc? Other pieces don't have positive value

If the pick was 15th OA, it'd be more fair yeah but that's a bit of gambling

FWIW the west is so lousy this year that the Blues pick could still land virtually anywhere. On a five game W streak but only 5 pts out of a bottom 10 spot.

Yeah that's why I was talking about gambling... and seriously after having to endure the biggest casino madman as a GM for 7 years, we need to make more calculated risks now.

IMO that Blues pick is very similar to the 1st rd pick that landed you guys Chych. Was a gamble by ARI that worked out for them (12oa) but could've gone pretty badly if OTT went on a late run like they wanted to. Blues don't have the underlying numbers to really push the pick toward the back half of the draft but crazier things have happened for sure. It's always a gamble.

I'm expecting at least a 1st + two 2nds in value, even if the 1st is late.

The 1st doesn't need to be #12 overall.

There are 21 different NHL teams to trade with after Chychrun's 10 team M-NTC is taken into account.

Out of those 21 teams, only 1 of them needs to meet the asking price.

Somebody will pay it.

And if nobody pays the asking price for some reason, we just sign him to 8 million x 8.

No problem.

I think army would rather give up next years first before this years first, but I think he would still accept the deal nonetheless. Parayko needs a top pairing to defensemen to play with

Are we sure Chychrun is a top pairing defenseman? I have no doubt he's an upgrade over Krug. But we still hold the financial committment to Krug in this scenario and are assuming the risk that Chychrun's past in regards to being only on teams with god awful defense isn't any result of himself as well. That paired with the injury history it's hard not to hold a bit of concern in regards to acquiring him when we're in the situation we are in. If we were a bonafide competitive team i would say by all means yes.

I would say he’s at least better than any other LD we got on the roster by a considerable margin, he’s putting up points on a horrible sens team and is only 25. He has great underlying numbers and can break the puck out of the zone incredibly well, which not many D can do for us this year. Only issue is he can be injury prone, but has been relatively healthy the last 2 years.

The Sens aren't having problems putting up points. They have been absolutely terrible at giving up shots in the slot uncontested.
