Werider names have moved at the deadline, and Washington aren't exactly in a position to compete. With how weak the C market is, they may listen to offers. This might not be enough, but to outright say he won't be available is incredibly short sighted

Strome would do a much nicer job at 2c than KK for now. The guy needs to get some confidence back. he is still good defensively, but he has not clicked at all in the last 30 games. He kills the play in the offensive zone so often.

Majorly disagree. KK's been fine, but he cannot buy a bounce right now. He's not actually playing badly. His xG isn't falling, his underlying numbers haven't changed. It's just not going in for him. Strome as a 3C to take pressure of KK and give the Canes another scoring line was the idea here

I can guarantee you Strome isn't moved unless there's a comparable young center coming back the other way. The franchise is set up around Ovi catching Gretzky. He needs a center to play with to do so. Backstrom is done, Kuzy stinks, McMichael and Dowd are great but not as your 1c. That leaves Strome and only Strome for that role. Only way I could remotely see it happening is if Necas is going back the other way, and even then I'd be hesitant.

Necas >> Strome, stop. You'd have to add a lot to Strome while retaining half that deal to get Necas.

Washington right now aren't built to do anything. Ovi has like 9 goals this year, he's still a LONG way from Gretzky. If he's not going to get there (and this year, he's shown no signs of closing the gap majorly) may as well grab a haul for a piece the organization does not need

Necas and Nikishin are the only two pieces in Carolina’s organization outside of the star players that would get the caps to move Strome. They have no reason to move him after extending him last season and desperately needing centers. The caps aren’t trying to be bad, they’re just badly constructed, unfortunately. But strome isn’t the problem, he’s a part of what the team considers to be the solution in the near future.

i just think he might be suitable more in a defensive roles. He also has been playing mostly bottom 6 minutes at the end of the day for a while too.

You do realize they're scoring right at around the same clip and Strome is extended long term while Necas isn't... right? There isn't some massive gap between the two.

Strome doesn't have enough value to consider moving either...

Necas is also 2 years younger, a much better skater, and RFA after this year, giving him more control. He's undeniably the much more valuable piece

I love it when people try to argue about the Canes using TOI, because using that logic, Aho's very rarely the 1C. Kotkaniemi's been fine, and he's going to continue to get that chance. He's been playing well, but he cannot buy a bounce

The Caps JUST gave him a 5x5 to be a top 6 center of the future lol, he's not available

Because they thought they'd be competitive, and give Ovechkin a shot at Gretzky's record. Neither of which has come to fruition... lol

nah you are in fact allowed to go through a retool and still keeps guys that you like, especially when they are a 26 year old top 6 center. The young guys in the system are coming, the Caps are only a couple years from getting back in the hunt, and Strome will be hitting his prime years.

i think i could have chosen a 100 different stats to show that he is not doing so well. definitly not at a 2c level in the last 30 games.

Okay, reading comprehension clearly isn't strong here. There are no other players in the Carolina organization that the caps would consider moving Strome for. Didn't say it would be one for one. Jesus.
