Description
Wanted to add tougher veteran players (Bennett, Jenner)
Jiricek isn't what we need right now.. Jenner is. So might as well get both and package up our premium assets. '24 pick is around the value for Jiricek, so Joki + Savoie + 2nd is the cost for Jenner if you think about it like that

Ignore some of the specific contract numbers it all relatively evens out (Krebs isn't getting 2.5, RyJo probably gets more that 1.75) Wahlberg isnt going to be ready in 2 years but a veteran 4th liner would make close to that salary, so Wahlberg and other prospects on the 4th lines are just $ placeholders.

To be honest the only way I see Skinners contract getting moved is adding premiums to it. He also has to waive the NMC to accept a trade to SJ but that's another issue in itself. It might have been overkill but Imagine it as the worst case scenario, our roster still looks fine.

Let me know the thoughts on the contract projections & if you think those are close to the numbers we would see

Boone by himself is only getting moved by an overpay - he has that much value to CBJ and the league, broadly.

That package probably only gets you Boone.

I can't see a world where Jenner himself gets a top 10 pick
What if we swapped Savoie with your choice of Prospect (Kulich)
Made that 2nd a 1st and added a 3rd
So kind of think about it as 2 separate trades
jiricek for Top 10 1st + Jokiharu
Jenner for Kulich, 1st, 3rd, Greenway

You think that gets it done?

This is true, but that package would get you way more than Boone Jenner. Any GM that made a trade like that for only him would be fired instantly.

If we were trading either, that Jenner one would probably be fine. The Jiricek one is not. It would take a young top caliber player like Benson or Power. I dont think either will be traded, but it would have to be closer to a swap of top caliber prospect/player.

Most would, but this is the Sabres

No way am I including Kulich when a 1st 3rd and Greenway are already going your way. Maybe Wahlberg or Neuchev with the rest of the trade.

I like the Columbus trade, for all the reasons you mentioned. I'm not a Skinner fan, but I wouldn't pay that much just to move him. Plus, if you retain on him down to 4.5m for a few years, he should have positive value to somebody, I don't think you need to add a past and future first to sweeten the deal. If I was a goal starved team that needed a stick tapper to chip in 25+ goals at 5v5, Skinner at 4.5m is probably just fine.

These are just my opinions obviously, I don't think there's any chance that the Sabres move Skinner out, he did that between two stalls thing last year, you can't remove a locker room cornerstone like that. Also, no way pegula pays 14m to trade him, pretty sure it was his idea to throw Skinner 2-3m more than market, when this was literally the only place he would play.

I'm in no hurry to move Wahlberg or strbak for that matter. Would really like to invest more assets in those skill sets.

I would do it if it got Boone and Jiricek, but I get what your saying. Yeah I am not moving Strbak.

Like to see Adams try and go after Trenin or Joshua in FA. Think they could help.

If your breakdown is savoie plus joker, and a second for Boone. this may make more sense to have 2 separate trades so each evaluation can take place separately.

As for jiricek sure he’s definitely worth moving If we get a top 4 pick for him. But if it’s 7,8.9,10 then no that’s not what we’d want back.
