Dumping Faksa costs at least a second on its own. Acquiring Dowd is another second at least.

In this scenario he’s being moved at the deadline with no extension. You’re not pulling a prospect like Bichsel without an extension and I don’t see the Stars having money for that long term. Maybe a team that does makes a better offer

Lol

Dowd alone is getting a 1st (look up Goodrow trade) so if you want to cap dump an expensive 4th liner on us for this year and next it's at least a 2nd, maybe more.

Goodrow wasn’t worth a first. Poor asset management. The extension was worse. GMs make bad decisions all the time. Like giving up a second round pick for a guy that was an easy buyout in the offseason. Bad look for a guy that just won GM of the year. Maybe more? Really?? He’s a slightly over paid defensive center. Still plays a valuable role. Not some 8 million dollar plug that doesn’t do anything well

LOL it was freakn TBL that traded for him then won a Cup off the dominant line he was apart of. Dowd is very underpaid and top 10 defensive forward in the NHL. He's not just a run of the mill plug lol

If Dallas is trading for Hanifin it is absolutely with the intention to extend him lol. But whether he actually extends or not has almost nothing to do with the trade itself. You are spending to outbid other teams, and a late 1st + 4th will absolutely get beat

I don’t disagree. I do think the Stars should look elsewhere at that point tho

Never called Dowd a plug. And I’m well aware of how things went down with the Goodrow trade. I still disagree with paying that much for that type of player

Your window is now. Bischel's ceiling is Oleksiak/Orpik. If you genuinely value waiting 3-4 more years to hope he becomes that vs adding your version of Hampus Lindholm you really need to fix your priorities. You probably aren't keeping Duchene with Stankoven and Bourque waiting in the wing so you should have the cap space

Again don’t disagree. I just don’t think Hanifin is the guy the Stars should be going for. Tanev or Savard make a lot of sense to me. Both should be attainable without adding Bichsel. Who is still at least a year or two away, but still will be here sooner than anybody we picked with a first round pick

I think Duchene is a more important keep than Pavelski at this point. Duchene makes the second line go. JRob and Hintz are just fine with Wyatt, Bourque, or Stank moving forward
