Kings fans will not like this one bit.

I’m not too interested in Evans or Tanev, especially not at those prices.

Is there any AHL center you can replace in the 5th in the deal with? This trade would make the Habs have Suzuki and Stephen as healthy centers

No Hugues doesn’t pull the trigger. Unless the return is irresistible they won’t move Evans. Mtl have 2 nhl center. It will take a crazy offer.

Yeah they won’t but if they don’t turn it around by deadline maybe there’s a deal that could be made

This is a crazy offer lol. Getting a 2nd+ for Evans, a decent 4th liner making almost 2x what most people want a 4th liner to be making.

That's not the argument.
I think the value is FAIR. No doubt.

But with Monahan gone today; and Dvorak AND Dach out for the season, Habs currently have only 2 NHL centers in their lineup... including Evans haha

We already had this discussion. Get over yourself. Evans will only be move if the return is irresistible and this is not. He is more valuable to Mtl than a late second round pick. This is really not hard to understand. Mtl have already a millions pick over the next 3 season and a boat load of prospect doing well in Laval. There absolutely no incentive of trading Evans for a 60thish overall pick. Maybe next year when Evans is UFA the narrative will change but there no reason for Hugues to entertain the idea of trading Evans unless the return is irresistible like is said before.

Thats exactly what i was trying to explain. Thank for the clarification. Value wise this is a very good offer but the situation that Habs are right now make Evans value rooftop.

Why so worked up? Shouldn’t today be a happy day with the Monahan trade?

If someone is offering to dump a pretty lackluster contract for a solid return, I would absolutely consider it. Call up some youngsters or try to get additional assets to take on a cap dump. Maybe go shopping on waivers. Lots of options for a team that’s not trying to win today!

All of this is moot anyways because I can’t imagine this offer being on the table for Evans.

What are you talking about? Evans contract is just fine. He is such versatile players, would care less if he would make 2,5 millions instead of is 1,7 cap hit. There other thing that is valuable then points. Evans is mostly use for defensive purposes and does extremely well. Faceoff, pk, nevragic moment. Evans values like i said is superior for Mtl at the moment

Alright!

My thought is that he’s generally a 4C. Certainly a valuable role. But most good teams are not going to pay $1.7M for a 4th liner. You’re better off spending on higher impact players at the top of the lineup and then spending <$1M for everyone on your 4th line.

It’s a luxury that most teams cannot afford. Montreal has cap space and is bad, so it’s less of a concern.

Yup! That was a contract signed before the flat cap. We also had MacKinnon making $6.3M and a point per game Nazem Kadri making $4.5M. Unless you have superstars offsetting pricy contracts, it’s a no.

Couple of things.

1. COL sends the better pick(s)

2. This is a horrible trade for LA.

3. Byram can’t stay healthy.

There no such thing at a team must have a 4th line center under 1millions. You just need depth at this position. That the one thing that all the cup champion have. Center depth. Evans

Going based on the capfriendly depth charts. Top 5 teams in the league based on points:

1. Vancouver - Aman $884K
2. Boston - Poitras $870K
3. Colorado - Olofsson $775K
4. Florida - Stenlund $1M
5. Dallas - Faksa $3.25M (Steel is listed as 3C at $850K, and Duchene is a $3M 2C. Maybe just an anomaly).

Plenty of budget 4Cs in the NHL. If you’re tight on cap, you shouldn’t spend it on someone who will be a 4th liner.
