Would rather just send a mid pick for Allen, if anything.

If i were to change the 3rd to a 2nd, it would equal a late 1st together. a late 1st and Xhekaj and is about the most youd get for him. Kinda like the Newhook trade but instead of a late 1st and 2nd, Xhekaj becomes the 2nd

Oh yeah i forgot, you think Holtz is worth Guhle. Holtz is closer to Newhook than Guhle

And i would take a package for Newhook. You could even remove Bahl and id do it

Except we don’t want Xhekaj for a 2nd. I’d rather play Bahl.

And because holtz has 2 years left on his ELC, has been much more productive than Newhook, and with much higher draft pedigree.

If holtz is in the same spot in 2 years when he’s an RFA, call us about that 1st+2nd

Guhle for Holtz+3rd
Montembault+1st for Holtz+3rd
Dach+1st for Holtz
Newhook+1st for Holtz+3rd
Slaf for Holtz+1st

Xhekaj may get some stupid GM to bite on a guy who has quite frankly shown he isn’t an NHL caliber hockey player because of intangibles. Won’t be Fitzy.

What the devils need: defensively sound, puck moving Dmen who is going to help us give up less goals on the penalty kill.

Xhekaj is bad defensively, not a great puck mover, who takes a boatload of penalties while not contributing on the kill.

If we plug Xhekaj into our lineup that forces Luke Hughes onto the PK, which we will be on a lot more be Xhekaj can’t stay out of the box

If I wanted what Xhekaj brings I’d bring back Brendan smith. He is at least an elite penalty killer.

Call us in 2 years if holtz hasn’t developed and we’ll trade you for his RFA rights then.

Pair of 2nds+Clarke for Newhook it is.

-Long term defensively sound option at 3C who can kill penalties
-long term defensively sound puck moving LD (number 3 type option) who can kill penalties
-long term franchise goalie

Those are the type of assets that are of interest for Holtz.

Again, holtz would lead Montreal in 5v5 goals and points by a significant margin.

He scores points and goals 5v5 at a rate of about Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki. Combined.

Montreal has made the Guhle for Holtz move twice before.

Sergachev for Drouin
Romanov for Dach

We just don’t have any reason to do the deal for a sum-of-the-parts type of deal. Holtz is performing well and still has plenty of time on his ELC. A team can stack up as many mid round picks, back-up goalies and tweener dmen they want. It will be very hard to get Holtz out of NJ without giving up someone that hurts to give up.

Guhle and Holtz are same age, have similar value, and Habs fans have noted their depth at LHD, which is why he came up.

Maybe try LAK, who sound like they may be using Kaliyev as a trade chip.

Caps decline. That pick may be in the top 10.
