The only reason we would trade Savard is to make place for a young RD, not to take on another one with VERY limited potential

Habs pass, not moving Savard for Lily without getting a 2nd back and if we are retaining it's gonna cost a 1st.

Montreal doesn't need savard. Liljegren is the right age for their window

He is almost 25 and hasn’t really proved anything yet. He has VERY limited potential and would only block Mailloux and Reinbacher

Doesn't mean they are selling low on him, especially since Hughes literally said today that he isn't planning on trading Savard right now. Habs want to be in the playoffs next year, Savard is the type of Dman you want for a run and we already have him, why should we trade him this year then have to turn around next year and possibly look for another Savard type of D man?

With no more savard there's lots of space on the right side

It's very unlikely they make playoffs next season

Montreal fans are on one. A really good one.

Liljegren is like 3x better and the analytics prove it. Savard hasn't been good in years and gets caved in nightly. Tree would be fired into the sun for this one

Not really, a healthy lineup this year and we likely aren't out of the chase yet

You need 48 points in 33 games to reach the 96 points it will almost certainly take to qualify for the playoffs. I think that you need to keep that in mind and be realistic when it comes to forming a trade deadline strategy.

I'd rather have your 2026 1st than Liljegren.

I see where the following may have been confused "if we had a healthy lineup this year and we likely aren't out of the chase yet" meaning if we had had a healthy line up all season, we would have been closer to the playoffs this year, I did not mean that we weren't out of the chase already cause we are.

Mathesson Savard
Ghule Barron
Struble Kovacevic
Xhekaj Mailloux
Hutson Reinbacher
Engstrom Konyuchkov
Harris

Mtl have enough D for the future

The future core on the RD for habs is Mailloux Reinbacher and Konyuchkov
I'm open to trade savard barron and kovacevic but not for another D

( these 6 LHD will be crazy 🤯 )

You haven't watched Savard play then. Period.
I'm not saying Lilegren sucks here, and if you can put your Hab-hating reflex on the side a bit, Savard has been a very solid D all season and his value is higher than you think.
He's bigger, stronger, blocks more shots than most D, and has even more points than Lilegren... on a very bad offensive team.
He has leadership for years, and is adored by everyone on the team.
This has value on the market.

Not saying anything against Lilegren here. He has high value too.

But no need to bash Savard saying 'he sucks'. He doesn't suck at all.

Now, in my opinion, the Habs would not do this trade.

Savard hasn’t had a good EV defense % in like 3 years. he’s old and slow and can’t defend anymore.
