Stars for the Cup

Description
From what I‘m reading, a 2nd plus a solid prospect would be enough for Tanev. I‘m not really sure that‘s accurate, but I‘m going for it and the 4th for the Salary retention. I even dump Hakanpää with a 5th since CGY needs someone on the D to play.

Then adding Pesce for a 1st plus two solid prospects and the 3rd for the retained salary. I‘m not saying CAR or CGY will retain, there may be a third party involved.

Its difficult to see, anyone of CAR or CGY would make this trade without Bourque or Stankoven as a return. But since its a big probability that both players will be traded at the deadline because of their UFA-status, I went for it.

Faksa is dealt to anyone who takes him. His strengths will be missed, but his cap-hit has to go.

I know its highly unrealistic, but one can dream. With this line-up, they‘re stacked from top to bottom. They can rest Suter or Lundkvist every other night. Biggest weaknesses eliminated.

Dallas empties the cupboard, but after a buyout of Suter in the summer, I could see a contract for Pesce @ say 6M over 8 years.

Carolina don't have the RD depth to move Pesce for a package of futures. We'd need a solid two-way RD back, and Dallas just cannot offer that

Nope. We aren’t interested in trading roster players for futures and definitely aren’t interested in retaining salary.

AZ is not giving a middle pick (or anything) to get a 30yo overpaid 4C for a year.

Canes aren't trading roster pieces during the middle of their own Cup run. And even if they were, neither Grushnikov or Back are what anyone would consider "solid" prospects. Grushnikov is a B-level prospect that might see NHL time at some point in his career and Back is a career AHL/injury callup kind of player.
