They won't make the playoffs next year, but barring terrible injury luck they shouldn't be in the basement again. expect them to get close but not quite make the playoffs. definitely agree that people should give up the talk of Huberdeau and Dubois though, they'd only hurt the team

Personally, I think Montreal will gonna want to be competitive earlier that what we can think.

They already traded somes drafts picks for young established players (Dach & Newhook), and Kent Hughes said himself that he will gonna make a trade for another young player who can contribute offensively (like Zegras or Necas for example).

For me, that's a massive point that the Habs management wants to be competitive the faster than possible, but they didn't want to pass away on somes steps.



And I'm one of thoses who think that he will gonna trade away their 2024 1st round pick AND somes young defensemans (Barron, Harris, etc.) for a young established offensive players.
