I'm still baffled that a OTT-CGY trade hasn't happened for Weegar, especially now that CGY is looking to retool.

I'm not that fond of the idea of paying what? 1st, 2nd (potential first) a 4th and 5th for what? Few months of Tarasenko?
I mean to be fair that seems to be the wish of many Rags fans, but I'm not one of them.

Under the previous GM that fled town for Toronto where he's continued to make a right mess of things.

Now you could argue it's because they plan on letting Tane walk to restore righty lefty balance, but guys already 30 and just starting that new shiny contract, if CGY is looking to retool which will take a couple of years, those were the prime ones under his new deal gone while CGY is shuffling deck chairs. It would make sense to exchange that for a younger asset.

It would make sense for the team, I’m not arguing that, but I can’t imagine Weegar would be thrilled about moving after making a large commitment to the city

Flames don't have a lot of RD. Brz Tanev Andersson are our best RD assets. Weegar had been playing LD for 99% of his time here. Plus we have so many LD prospects that might make the team next year in Solovyov, Poirier, Kuznetsov. We don't need more LD assets. This swap just doesn't make sense for CGY

With the contracts of Weegar, Huberdeau, Kadri, and Andersson, it's clear Calgary isn't rebuilding. Calgary will be trading more pending UFA's and build up their farm system and try to win next year. Weegar is staying

CGY needs to rebuild, badly, their #1 center is kadri now and he aint getting younger, huberdeau is finished as a top 6 player, they going to lose their #1 LD as well, their #2 C is going to 35 soon, CGY is so far behind, LAK, EDM, VGN and the Nucks they cant even see their shadow. get a haul for weegar and anderson.

tradre kadri with 2M retained for a nice big package, trade magiapane and kuzy to get more 1sts, CGY could have close to a dozen 1st round picks in the next 3 years
