Description
I've been adamant that trading Kakko for a rental or for a player aged 27+ is a mistake. So if we're gonna do it, we need to at least get a good young player back.

I don't know if Voronkov is ready for first line responsibility, which is why Wheeler is up there. But if the kid can handle it, definitely switch them.

Also the mandatory Kessel signing as injury insurance.

The Jackets aren't trading Voronkov, and definitely aren't trading Jenner (unless management gets fired). Either way, we're not the team to target if you're sending out an underperforming winger, we've got plenty of those.

Quality centers (like Jenner and Voronkov) are way harder to come by for us.

You're not going to be able to convince the Jackets to part with Voronkov, let alone with Jenner, unless it's an absolutely massive offer. K'andre Miller would probably be the only asset worth considering from the Blue Jackets' perspective.

Voronkov could very well be a unicorn and they've done a lot of work to integrate him with their other young players.

I don't see Columbus trading Jenner. He loves it there and the fans love him.

Leschyshyn and the 4th do absolutely nothing for the deal so it's Jenner/Voronkov for Kakko/1st. I don't know much on Voronkov so assume him and Kakko cancel each other out for the purpose of this exercise and ignore that portion of the trade. Jenner for a first is not going to cut it for a solid middle six center with a good cap hit and term on his deal. Also, not sure how eager Davidson is to help out Dolan.

Your description makes it clear, you fear Kakko will become the player he is supposed to be the second he leaves NYR, and thus, you are valuing him there, as opposed to what he is now.

There's no team out there that is going to give up a better, younger asset in a swap for Kakko. Kakko has had great line mates to play with and zero excuses for how poor his play has been now 4+ years into his NHL career.

A 27+ guy with term is the best you're going to get back for Kakko.

There is no way i would trade Voronkov for Kakko 1 for 1. Voronkov is a rookie, a center, and produces more.

That's why I said ignore that portion of the trade at the moment and focused on the Jenner part.
