I see Tanev as a clear upgrade on Ceci. its an overpayment but I think this clearly makes them better.

To me Tanev is worth Ceci and a first at even salary.

Wouldn't move Foegele at all, he's very cost efficient and has found his game this year, no value in moving him.
At the price you're paying for Tanev Calgary can half retain; pay a 3rd team to retain 1.5 on Guent.
With that retention keep Foegs and have an amazing top 9.

Never like the idea of trading for expensive rentals though, would rather see EDM go for a top pair RHD with term.

I think an older defensemen like Tanev on a short term contract is exactly what Holland would do if he could resign him.

I would hope it isn't Tanev, Ceci isn't much different than him and that is a significant price to pay for a 34 y/o dman.

i think the key will be patience again to find a bubble team like Nashville last year and find a value deal

PIT requires an A+ prospect back on that trade.
