How do the Avs afford that when Landy comes back? You're looking at trading at least 2 D-men who would have to be replaced plus a bunch of other spots that need filled. In fact, that's still the case even if Landy has to LTIRetire because now you have to replace Landy. It just does not work to add an expensive player or the complexion of the team changes a lot and the Avs lose the competitive advantage they have with their D.

I think ANA needs a better prospect piece coming back. Ritchie looks fine, but feels like his absolute ceiling is the 2nd line. Z has been able to produce at NHL 1st/2nd line since he was 20. The dice roll of a late 1st doesn’t make up for that gap
