Holloway and a 1st at minimum. Tuch is someone I'd love on the Oilers.

I think Andersson is good, but I think you can get a better RH dman if you're offering that much.

The value here is probably close on all of it but like none of those guys are getting moved for a combo of NTC and team timeline (Andersson is probably Calgary’s next captain)

The Sabres need to stockpile some picks and start adding some high upside d-men, like buium or parekh. The trade route isn’t viable for them and free agency seldom bears fruit

There's not really much incentive for Seattle to trade players with term for players in contract years. The pieces could have more potential but overall trade looks really lopsided in Buffalo's favor.

Not available but his value is equivalent to 3 1sts I'd guess

Like whom? Andersson is a beast he's exactly what we could use in the top 4

Plenty of targets that meet our needs that don't have NTC. Agree we need to draft high level D men but that doesn't help the team for many years and we need to be improving the NHL roster right now.

Gourde, Tanev, and Borgen are both UFAs after 2024-2025 they don't have term. All three players I traded to them are younger, team controlled (RFAs), and have higher ceilings. No way Seattle would decline that lol

Look you and I have totally different outlooks on the team but you are definitely smart enough to recognize the trade route is basically closed to them. Anyone worth a damn in this league has no trade protection. And most of free agency is a terrible way to spend your money. See all of Kevyn Adams' free agent signings.

Even if you have a far more positive outlook on this team than I do, there's no denying their best (or i guess surest?) shot at being anywhere close to good is to keep drafting and waiting.

The targets without NMC aren't getting moved period (like Andersson)

Yes keep drafting players I agree with that. However to say there aren't good players available that can help our team improve immediately and that wouldn't be rentals either is far from true. There are also some UFA options that wouldn't be bad ideas.

Trade targets: Borgen, Walker, C. Tanev, Jiricek (very unrealistic) those would all help us on the D side. Lots of options to improve our forward group in the bottom 6 too. Goaltending I admit there are few options for trade

UFA signings like Matt Roy or Dylan Demelo would be wise adds and players that shouldn't cost an arm and a leg towards the cap

Roy and Demelo aren't signing with the Sabres. Not after all this.

Tanev isn't coming here either. Borgen and Walker are fringe guys. Those are fine targets, but they dont move the needle. Same story as going after guys like clifton. They end up being asked too much of them. They need another top 5 pick in 25

Walker is a steady player who proves his mettle in his own zone. He can easily play 15-18 mins a night on our 2nd pair. Borgen is great. Have you watched him play at all? He's big, a very good skater, physical when he needs to be, and is a very effective puck mover. He'd also easily slot in the 2nd pair.

15-18 mins isnt a second pair guy. And walker right now is the product of a strong defensive system under Tortorella, hes not going to get that here. See, clifton. Borgen isn't great, I watch a lot of Seattle. He's a good 3rd pair guy and I would take him on my team. But I can't pretend like that gets the Sabres out of the basement.

Like I said, Andersson is great, but as an Oilers fan, i've watched him quite a bit. By no means am I saying he's bad defensively, but he's never been a defenseman that could suppress the Oilers attack. Fellow Calgary players like Weegar or Tanev were much better than him. Even Giordano was too. Andersson is above average offensively, so that's a plus. Based on the current makeup of your team, IMO, I think you need a RH dman that is better defensively. Not too sure who fits that mould tho.
