Horrible for the Flames. even without extensions. The 1st + 3rd gets Tanev but that's it. Calgary doesn't want your trash.

MoxNix, stop dreaming. Those defensemen are on expiring deals. On top of which, you're getting insane draft capital and prospects.

Brodie Declines and Liljegren and Niemela are Very Overrrated

We’ll take Abruzzese as a throw in but he doesn’t hold any real Trade Value

You want Tanev, it starts with a 1st/Cowan/Minten

You want Hanifin, take out Brodie and Tanev

Tanev & Hanifin are Valuable Trade Pieces even as Pending UFA’s. TOR doesn’t have much of anything, especially that they’re willing to Trade, of much Trade Value

This Proposal HEAVILY Favours TOR

No deal then. Might as well let Tanev and Hannifin end there glorious season with the Flames so they can walk into free agency.

That won’t be happening. Conroy learned from Treliving’s errors and specifically the Johnny Gaudreau fiasco. They either extend or get Traded for a Haul WITH pre-negotiated extensions in place to be signed upon arrival or as Rentals, we’ll get good returns for each either way. They’re that valuable and in demand

I partially agree with you King. They are valuable. But if they were as valuable as you say, those demands would've happened already. Remember Arizona was asking 2 1st rounders for Chychrun, and they didn't come close. Let's be reasonable is all I'm saying.

ARI did get 2 1sts for Chychrun look at the trade again. The 2nd was conditional and could have become another 1st. That OTT 1st was substantially lower than TOR’s will be as well:

https://www.capfriendly.com/trades/players/jakob-chychrun

Hanifin <= Chychrun when you factor in injury history & reliability and the fact Hanifin is substantially better defensively and on the PK

Tanev could have been Traded for a quality return at any point but we’ve been waiting on Hanifin to decide whether he’s staying or going. He’s had a contract on the table for a while now

The closer we get to the Trade Deadline, the more their value goes up, so we still have 4 weeks to create a bidding war and milk as much out of GM’s as possible for them

Just need to ensure they stay healthy between now and the time they get traded is all

Tanev doesn’t cost a 1st and Cowan. This is coming from a Habs fan btw..

Flames likely get a 1st plus a small piece.

Yes, either a 1st + Sweetener OR Cowan, not both. How bout:

Tanev 50% Retained + 5th + Former 3rd RD Pick Boltmann
FOR
TOR-1st-2024 + Liljegren + Abruzzese/McMann

TOR can pay a 3rd Team to retain another 25% on Tanev making his Cap Hit less than Liljegren’s was

Get real you're dumping a load of trash. The only assets with much value are a 1st, a 3rd, Lily (worth about another 3rd) and Brodie is a cap dump Calgary has no interest in.

Try looking at what the top available defensemen fetch at the trade deadline every year... And don't forget the vast majority of them (possibly ALL of them) weren't 26 year old 1st pairing two way defensemen.

Man give up on Abruzzese already. All you do is make Leafs fans think their scrub AHL player actually has value. Just because he played with Coronato one year on a really good USHL team doesn't make Abruzzese good too. Abruzesse will NEVER make it as a regular in the NHL.

Note: Being a regular implies playing the majority of games in at least 2 seasons and getting into 200+ games. I'll eat my hat if Abruzzese gets even close to half that.

Mox, I clearly keep telling them

“We’ll take Abruzzese as a throw in but he doesn’t hold any real Trade Value” and “TOR doesn’t have much of anything, especially that they’re willing to Trade, of much Trade Value”

Coronato has a nice shot but that’s about it so far. He’s like a man on an island and bringing in Abruzzese, Farinacci or any other former Harvard Alum for familiarity isn’t a bad thing

Otherwise, If his value is still high, I’d Trade Coronato. I don’t Trust American Hockey Players wanting to stay in Calgary long term otherwise. I’d Trade Wolf if we could get a good return too, but that’s just me. We need to stop Drafting Small Guys and East Coast Americans AFAIC
