What's unrealistic about trading Marner?

What's unrealistic about telling JT to take one for the team and help them with their cap? Stone and Kucherov did it. It's time for JT to start acting like a leader and do everything to help the team win. In this season it means getting off the PP to give Bertuzzi the spot and get him going.

Both of those things are so completely unrealistic it's unreal. Mariners got a NMC and both Stone and Kucherov were injured.

JT looks injured. It won't be a hard sell.

And a NMC can be waived. Management should approach Marner, tell him to give three teams, and make the trade.

And the LTIR option is an option of last resort, but that's where the Leafs are at. Desperate measures are needed to strengthen this team. JT is not playing like an 11 million dollar player. He's not a good captain. If he wants to win a cup in Toronto he has to sacrifice one year of his career.

And how do you think that would go over with the NHLPA? Nevermind the fact that by sitting Marner they're actively getting worse for an indefinite amount of time so it's not going to happen.

Again, Tavares "looking hurt" doesn't mean he can sit out a year and a half on LTIR. There's investigators independent of the NHL that look into this.

So yeah, neither of these moves pass any sort of logic test, and you wonder why people always **** on your trade ideas.

I just don't see any other way the Leafs get better. Another season of Matthews in his prime will get wasted next year if drastic moves are not made.
