dont think wennberg will cost much but seattle would probably have to be well out of a playoff spot before they start selling

I think Caps likely keep Lindgren.

But maybe for a 2nd they’d let him go at the deadline

With how many teams are in front of them it’ll only be a matter of time for Seattle. They’d have to rip off a 6-7 game W streak to be back in the thick of it

Definitely a 2nd for Lindgren but maybe a 1st depending if a team is desperate. His contract is really attractive.

I'd offer Seattle Behrens and their 3rd next year for Wennberg. Don't think he's the answer but it would be a very Avs move to get someone like him and he's better than Joey so, yeah.

Not sure why they wouldn't sell an expiring asset. Even if they make the playoffs (unlikely), they aren't going to win the Cup and they need to keep building the team. He isn't a key piece so why not recoup something?

teams who are on the bubble re-sign FAs all the time instead of selling. seattle is only one year out from a second round appearance, maybe they feel that they can reload in the offseason and view wennberg as a longer term piece.

last year the following teams re-signed UFAs instead of selling them:

DET (larkin, maata, walman)
WSH (Jensen, Van Rymsdyk, Strome)
Van (Kuzmenko)
NSH (lankinen, fabbro)
CHI (athanasiou)
BUF (okposo, Gigensens)

None of those teams made the playoffs but all of them held onto expiring contracts and re-signed them

Probably because they had no prospects ready to play.

Only 2 players on there were worthy of resigning and that's strome and larkin.

Agreed. Still doesn’t mean we should assume some one like Wennberg will definitely be dealt at the deadline
