Edmonton's prospects suck and their 1st rounder is going to be a late first rounder.
Pens pass

Oilers decline. Go find another team to give you that many assets for a Rental. If you can. Otherwise lose Guentzal for nothing.

Possibly, but not necessarily. And in that case, the prospect would be MUCH better than what the Oilers are offering.

The Penguins will not be losing Jake for nothing.... Just not going to work with Edmonton in this case.

Non playoff teams are not going to trade for him as a rental.

He’ll be traded if the price is lowered. If not, Pens will be left with nothing

This is one I'd actually do. Bourgault has no future in Edmonton sadly and Lavoie hasn't got the proper opportunities. The 1st and 3rds are useless for us. As much as I am against overpaying for JG I'd do this.

I wouldn’t. Lavoie is one training camp and/or injury from being a regular on our RW for years to come. And provides a skill set (sniping) that is a weakness for this team. If they swapped Lavoie for Savoie or some other prospect I may be okay with it though.

The only knock I have on Lavoie is his work rate and motor. But in his last showing in Edmonton that looked much improved. And in the AHL reports are it’s improved as well.

uh i hope you're aware that if guentzel is made available, the pens will have no problem finding a suitor for him and will get what they want for him or damn near close to it. you're also dealing with dubas here.....

He’ll get traded. Not for the reported asks though. Rental Wingers asking for high extension cap hits don’t demand that type of return. High cap hit wingers are literally being given away these days. Much of Guentzals “value” is tied into Pens fans emotions for the players. Emotions won’t play out in the real world.

Guentzel is a premier goal scoring winger, and is playing up to par with his value. The pens have a lot of the leverage here and Dubas has made it apparent that he's setting the value high (with the comparable to Giroux deal.) If he doesn't like what he sees, Guentzel will re-sign with the Carter contract off the books.

Guentzal has not committed to resigning. Let’s not make things up.

Dubas has some leverage but only as much as a rental UFA can have which always puts a cap on the retention. If Guentzal was looking for a lower cap hit on extension then Dubas would have more leverage since he could factor in an extension to his asking price. But since Guentzal is asking a high amount that again limits his position. Not many playoff teams have 8.5Mish just sitting around to add a Winger.
