That's quite the overpayment for Jenner. Why not just trade with the Flyers and give them a first for Laughton? he's cheaper

Jenner is way better than Laughton and he would cost more

They're similar players and personally I think Laughton is better. Also that probably similar to want PIT wants for Guentzel so I think he'll be a good amount cheaper

In what universe is Laughton better? They're similar players but Jenner is Laughton if Laughton was better at everything he does.

Jenner 37 GP, 16-5-21, -8, 694 GP Career 186-164-350, -67, 50.9% xGF% (+7.5% relative), 53% Corsi%, 55% FO%, 80 Hits

Laugthon 54 GP, 7-16-23, -6; 573 GP Career 89-133-222, -22, 41.1% xGF% (-12.5% relative), 44% Corsi%, 48.9 FO%, 98 Hits

I mean, moot point discussing relative values because Jenner doesn't get moved, but it's still absurd. If Cowan is on the table, I think the Leafs can keep Niemela for sure.

I was taking into account untapped potential. we seen some from Laughton last year and if he got more ice time throughout his career his stats could've been better. But the main argument was the trade. I'd say Jenner's value is similar to Laughtons

If Laughton gets moved, he's probably going to fetch a first in this market, but I don't know what kind of untapped potential he has left at nearly 600 career games played, 29 years old, an average ice time this season of 15:14 (vs. 14:20 career), and being a regular 20-40 point guy for the last 10 years.

Jenner's at least a 30-45 point guy consistently, and a 20-goal scorer for the past 2.5 seasons (assuming he pots 4 more this year). It's not like they're incomparable, but I think it's clear Jenner gets more in a trade if he's moved, especially considering the X-factor is: Columbus doesn't want to move him; Philly appears to want to move Laughton.

Vast majority of players in the league - especially Ontario born - would waive for the Leafs; without question the premier franchise & organization in the league.
But massive overpay, no way Leafs offer that much

Leaf fans have Cowan already fitted for his HHOF jacket so you better take that
