I don't think Mercer would be an option. Nor do I think they would want TWO goalies in return.

Holtz, Vanecek, pick
Casey, Schmid, pick

Something like that.

Nashville continues to thank Tom Fitzgerald for being a great Pred.

Nashville should take this and run, but I doubt Mercer is on the table, and it sounds like Trotz doesn't want a goalie as part of the return

Agreed. Same with Ottawa. I’d only move pinto for swayman

Trotz may want to keep Askarov in Milwaukee for the playoff run so taking a goalie back isn't off the table, but I wouldn't assume it to be part of the overall value of the trade either.

I'd agree with that. I could see Vanecek coming back to make the money work as well. Just probably not Schmid or Daws is what I meant

I think Pinto is a tier or two below Mercer as an asset bc of age, draft pedigree, and production, but I agree.

There are some assets that you NEED to give up a piece that hurts to give in order to be acquired.

Very few goalies fit that category. Most can be acquired with picks and secondary pieces.

Swayman is one of the few that fall into that category

I’ve always compared pinto and Mercer. I don’t think he’s a tier or two below Mercer at all unless you think Mercer is the next Jesper Bratt or something .

Pinto is an insane 200ft player who can play anywhere in the lineup

Mercer is also a 200 foot player who can play anywhere in the lineup and never misses a game

Just in terms of trade value:
-Mercer is a year younger
-Mercer has higher draft pedigree
-Mercer has much more proven production (Career high's are nearly double what pintos are)
-Mercer kills penalties

Pinto does all those things also pinto has missed some time due to injury and suspension which have slowed his development down. Pinto kills penalties and is insane at faceoffs and takeaways too. He’s also got a high end heavy NHL shot

Pinto gets about 30 seconds a night on the kill. Mercer gets about 2 minutes

Mercer not missing that time is a point in his favour.

Definitely leaning Casey, Schmid, pick. NSH needs a top pair RD's or a top 6 center as the return for Saros. Not saying Holtz wouldn't work, but NSH already has a warchest worth of RW's as is.

Casey is probably a better fit but the XFactor is that Brunette is a BIG holtz supporter
