Only reason Hawks do this is so they can send Smith to Indy in the ECHL.

A couple of days after Smith hit Bedard…he had a fundraiser for his charity. One of Devils reporters claimed that Bedard sent a check. Haven’t seen anything else on it, but class move if he did.

I don't hold that hit against Smith at all and have nothing against the guy. It was a freak accident in my opinion.
