Hasn't played (or presumably even skated) for 4+ months. Would he even be an upgrade? That NMC is interesting. They can't even send him to the AHL on a conditioning assignment without his consent.

I don’t think the players association would let that happen. He has a $500k performance bonus as well, which I think could be problematic if they tried to waive him with the current cap situation. Come to an agreement to let him go through counseling and stay on IR?

it is 100% the case. they were not allowed to terminate his contract under the CBA due to LTIR status. now that the charges have been dropped, they'll likely waive him. This isn't speculation. they are completely done with him. but we also could have just figured that out with logic. he isn't good enough to warrant the headache

annnnd it's confirmed to be the case - bruins announce he will not be anywhere near the team this season.
