Hard pass on the Mitts trade from Buffalo

Why? I’m a Flames fan and would take this. We need centres. Markstrom is great. But in the direction we’re going Mitts makes more sense and fills a position of need.

I don’t see what value Middelstadt is gonna have if were retooling, hes had one good season so far and plays a similar game to Backlund and we’d be giving up our top 5 goalie.

He reminds me a lot of Backlund but with more offensive upside. He’s actually putting together his 2nd straight great season. So he’s been pretty consistent even with not getting top line ice time. He’s young and still progressing. His 2 years before the last 2 he had injuries that held up his development. Backlund had injury concerns in his first several years because he didn’t have a man’s body yet. Once he grew into it he’s been steady and reliable. If we would could get a guy like Backlund ready to go in his prime I think that’s excellent value.

We don't need centers, we need a legitimate 1C. Mittelstadt is not that. He's also going to be asking for a massive pay raise this summer. Mitts is the same caliber player as Kadri, we have zero chance of with Kadri as our current 1C so how does adding a second Kadri fix that?

Avs hard pass. Adding cap for a position they have no need is not going to happen. Almost as lunatic as most of the Mitts trades.
