Probably by not having 27 players and realizing you are only paying like 1/6 of his salary

I'm sure he's on their radar but he doesn't really fill a need; would be foolish to spend anything significant on a rental

The real question is are the Avs on Vlady’s radar. If he’s traded I’d expect him to go to the east coast again.

The only way COL is remotely interested in Tarasenko and when I say remotely I mean minuscule is if either Nichushkin is out for the rest of the year, or they force feed the 2c spot to Rantanen and we know Bednar won’t do that.

His cap hit is still the same. And I believe the Avs still fall short of space space if they acquire Vlad and send everyone on the scratched list away. Because they'll have a hard time moving Johansen without retention and giving up assets.

If nuke is out till playoffs then he would be able to go on LTIR. But even then it still doesn't solve the issue of 2nd center. They can easily have parise on the second line.

Rantenen is more fit for winger then center

What am I missing?

I see Jonathan Drouin, Miles Wood, Joel Kiviranta and Zach Parise in the AVs Top-9...

But he'll probably end up somewhere else anyway

With a healthy lineup (sans Landeskog) the top 9 wingers are Rantanen and Drouin (who is on pace for 50pts and has been getting better and better), Lehkonen and Nichushkin no comments needed, the third line is Colton, Wood and LOC who have been exceptional and their role as aggressive forecheckers sand paper players has straight great. They have Kovalenko coming over Parise and Cogliano (a Bednar favorite). Kiviranta doesn’t even dress in healthy lineup and what’s missing in all that a 2c that’s why they don’t do it.

I was looking at CF and it didn’t show LOC injured so I missed him and didn’t know Kovalenko was coming over? Finally

I guess the Avs could be interested in Tank if they knew both Nich and Landeskog weren’t coming back this season (haven’t followed about Landeskog)

Regarding Drouin, never liked his game despite points but I guess he is a project for the Avs

Landeskog seems like he's ahead of schedule so he should be ready for playoffs if there's no setback. Course kovalenko coming over but not till about end of season.

I wouldn’t count Landeskog for the playoffs they are going to be very very conservative with him because he has already had one set back that cost them a year.

Drouin is playing on the top line, throw out the first 10 games where he didn’t seem to have a consistent spot and he is averaging 0.78 ppg game. Ironically Tarasenko is averaging 0.73ppg game. But it doesn’t change the fact that COL has two MASSIVE needs a middle/2c and back up goalie, they have limited draft assets so they have to be very select about who they add. In a vacuum you would totally add a guy like Tarasenko.

ok I see, priorities

Just for info, Tarasenko has 29 of his 36 pts at ES and has played a bit everywhere in the Top-9, often on line 3

I wouldn’t do that unless there is full retention on Allen and they have another C lined up.

Was that his preference the 1st time around?

I mean there’d be plenty of reasons to go to the Avs. He could raise his off-season market value playing next to MacK. He could have a legit chance at a Cup.

Last year he reportedly told STL he only wants to go to NJ, NYR, NYI. I think the Avs should focus on getting a reliable 2C and a backup, but I’m also a Blues fan who believes COL isn’t as strong as everyone says they are. I think they might lose in round 1 if they play WPG.
