open heart surgery to a club this good and you wound up with AJ Greer on the second line? a guy you have scratched has twice the offensive production of him with a really good defensive game. why?

that's not good.

In fairness, then2nd line here and the 3rd line are pretty much interchangeable.

Flames likely pass. beyond the 1st it's a bunch of quantity over quality. Pretty sure we'll get a better deal elsewhere.

As I do agree I would argue merk Is a value pick that the flames could fins usefully (probably same value as a 2nd and a 3rd)

in fairness greer in this lineup is horrible. you have greer, texier, and okposo playing while heinen is scratched. that's asinine.

The confidence that Hanifin is signing in Boston on July 1st is growing.

I’d love to have him for the current run, but I’m anticipating that Calgary will trade him for rental rates and Boston will sign him on July 1st. Maybe they give up a third or a prospect for the 8th year.

Yeah, like Gaudreau was signing in Philly and Tkachuk only wanted to play in St. Louis, then there is Dubois and Montreal... etc

No interest from Columbus in that deal. No idea what you were thinking would happen here. EDIT TO PROVIDE CONTEXT: CBJ already have a glut in the D corps, and they're not contending this year, so they won't be interested in adding a rental.

Dubois and Tkacuck were traded at the beginning of each season in an RFA year. Hardly the same and if you can’t see that, you might be blinded here. Them signing was the difference between locking in generational wealth vs. being paid a bridge deal.

Gaudreau to Philly was one option. There is a difference between going to a team that has lost consistently vs. going to the team with the best regular season record in the last two years. Things can change, but I’m very comfortable Boston will be in a great position to sign an impact player with Hanifin being the most likely.

They both still chose to sign long-term extensions with Florida and LA after fans ran their mouths for years about how they only wanted to play in "X" city. I'm not saying he won't end up in Boston, but teh reality is he's likely to either sign an extension, or go to teh highest bidder.

Instead of accepting a bridge deal.

Ultimately, I can see Hanifin changing his mind. Maybe there is a situation where he goes I want to extend after being there a few months. It happens all the time, but he rejected an extension and rumor is he wants to test free agency for whatever reason. Also, couple very credible people saying the belief is he wants to go home.

I’m comfortable Boston secures a top shelf free agent target based on money available, competitiveness of team, facilities, and attractiveness of market
