Trade dosent make sense for MTL imo, they dont need more middle six forwards. They would prolly look for a Frost type guy in a Barron deal. Seems like a KH type of move.

Interresting trade, but I think that Montreal will gonna keep Barron, but including him in a package for Zegras.

BUT, I am open for a trade with Harris (his value is a 2nd round pick) + Primeau (his value is a late 2nd round - 3rd round pick) + a 3rd for Laughton.

Personally, we likely gonna need somes stabilisation on our centerman deep if Monahan didn't come back.

Maybe, but PHI doesn;t want a goalie, so it'd have to be Harris and a 2nd at least. Barron IMO has a lot more uopside

laugh on the Carter Hart signing, You can't sign a player who's career is likely over plus won't even be available until at least 2027 if he's lucky he'll be playing over in Europe not the US.

Montreal doesn't really want Laughton either. He doesn't fit their time frame, nor does he fill a role they really want filled right now.

No worries, yesterday there were a few MTL fans that wanted players NOW, dont want picks, etc...

As for Barron, I like his upside, but not sure its a high top 4 upside, and with MTL depth at defense with youth (Guhle, Struble, X, Harris on LD and Maillot and reinbacher at RD on the way = and no one is going to play 5-6 youngsters) I just thought that Barron might not have more value than he has now and Laughton is a good two way vet to go between the middle 6 with young guys.

I think the NHL will have to do a "formenton" and while none of those players get signed/can get signed, their rights will remain with the NHL clubs until the matter is settled one way or the other. I only signed him and placed him on LTIR, not to lose track of him, but Errsson is doing very well (and theres a reason Briere drafted 3 good goalies in the upper rounds).

Ideally it'll be errson and a vet backup (maybe buyout the last yr of Petersen).

Honest question, would you want Philly to trade a 22 year old player who's already shown significant flashes at the NHL level for a middle six veteran who's about to turn 30? I don't want to speak for others, but I doubt they were talking about guys like Laughton.

Montreal also doesn't need veteran placeholders at forward, they need the veterans they have to get healthy. They've gotten a combined 26 games from two guys they expected to play middle 6 C for them this season. Plus Montreal has the capspace that they can just eat a bad contract for a season to get that veteran.

And if Montreal were to trade Barron right now, it be for a similarly aged middle 6 forward/upside prospect or a pick. Or as part of package for a more impactful player.
