Pretty sure Murphy isn't on the block. It would cost more than he's worth to get Chicago to accept and even more to get Chicago to retain for 2 more years.

That offer is very similar to the Jake McCabe trade same picks for same retention, that what I based it off of

McCabe wasn't really part of the leadership core like Murphy is. He was expendable. Murphy is more valuable mentoring the young D and laying the foundation for the team's culture moving forward.

And to be honest I was shocked that Toronto gave up what they did for McCabe and Lafferty. I thought that was an overpayment. I was never a big fan of McCabe.

I agree with that first part, but I am surprised you feel that way about McCabe. The numbers say he was awesome, I thought he was awesome, and if we were actually a playoff team, I would've loved to keep him around.

Hawks had a pipeline full of good prospects to fill McCabe's spot in the lineup. Hawks don't have that same luxury w/ Murphy. They have nobody who can step in and take his spot (and no, Timmins isn't that guy either).

Shouldn’t the hawks be listening to trades about anyone not named Bedard

Not really. If the Hawks trade their veteran leaders and damage the culture they're creating, that would set them back a few years. Think of Buffalo. Lots of talent but they can't seem to put it all together. Keeping guys like Foligno, Murphy, Dickinson, etc. around to teach the kids how to be professionals, how to deal with the ups and downs of playing NHL hockey, handling the slumps and not taking things personal. Sometimes it's more important to keep the right guys around to build the foundation for the youth. Murphy is one of the right guys to keep around.

Not necessarily. The Hawks have accumulated a ton of picks since Kyle from Chicago took over. 22 in the last two drafts. 27 more in the next 3 - half of those are 1st's and 2nd's. If the Hawks had a capable young RD they could fill Murphy's spot with, then maybe they trade him. But they don't have that. If they have to spend picks to acquire a guy to replace Murphy, doesn't make a lot of sense to move him. And with 3 rookies playing on the left side most nights, Hawks need vets on the right side to help mentor the young guys.

It's not like he was bad on or off the ice and he was good defensively last year Chicago traded him. I think it stemmed from his '21-'22 season when he was a mess defensively. I saw last year as a sell high moment figuring he'd regress this season.

Sure. But in 21-22, he had just come back from a like year and a half long recovery after knee surgery.

That's true. I didn't watch him much at all in Buffalo so that first season in Chicago was really all I had to go off of.
