Basically, Habs swap Goalies with the Leafs, and in exchange for picking up Allen's extra year, habs will retain 1.45M$ on Dumba (62% retained). and will take Niemela for facilitating that deal and picking up Samsonov.

Allen will be much better behind the leafs and he's got plenty of experience in the playoffs.

Habs will use Niemela in Laval to help out the team below.

So Samsonov is a "cap dump", when last year he had better numbers then Allen and while having a nightmare start to this season has rebounded quite well since coming back to the team...to the point where his numbers are not a whole lot different then Allen's this year. This doesn't make any sense, also Samsonov is a UFA this summer and Allen has an extra year of term that Leafs don't need.

Keep dreaming, Leafs don't do any of this. You will be lucky to get anything for Allen.

I honestly don't think I would trade any of those pieces individually for a package of Dumba and Allen.

I'd rather have Samsonov over Allen at this point

I get that there's value in adding a guy like Dumba at that cap hit....but this ACGM suggests you haven't been watching Samsonov or Dumba play much recently
