I think you're going to catch some heat for that washington trade - the caps should want more, and i wouldn't want to ask them for retention on dowd.

another thing - the bruins should not have lohrei in the lineup come playoff time. he's not ready.

People will be very upset about the Calgary trade. Not unreasonable, but it would probably need to be a 1st instead of a 2nd

Someone else giving Calgary a 1st? Because you are light by a 1st there.

They are right. Dowd is worth a Late 1/Early 2 with $0 retention. Mantha retained at 50% is probably worth a 2nd and a 4th or thereabouts.

That had better just be retention in Mantha while he stays in Boston, otherwise a fourth to retain on Dowd and take the Mantha dump costs a lot more than the fourth.

Columbus also historically does not broker retention. Can't see that changing while JD is acting GM.

My assumption is Dowd is the wrong combination of value to fit for Boston.

I don’t believe Boston trades future primary assets for rentals with their current cap position (future firsts, Lohrei, Poitras, Lysell)

I’m fine with Lohrei playing in the playoffs and getting experience. Open to a trade as well, but if one can’t happen because of lack of assets … him getting some third line minutes is not a negative towards development long term. He’ll probably struggle some.

Dowd and Mantha would be interesting targets, but also way too expensive, asking for a 1st for a 4th liner is insane

Porbabl gotta upgrade that 2nd to a 1st for Hanifin, not a fan of dishing 1 of Lysell, Lohrei, or Poitras plus a 1st for a rental, but if you're gonna choose one of them, Lysell would probably be the guy

You're right, Lohreis not ready, but at the same time, Bruins don't have 3 LD better than him, rather ride him out for the rest of the szn

A first is a first and there are only so many that get moved but I would think the Caps could do slightly better by splitting up Mantha and Dowd -- at the least moving the first up a year
