Tank for Celebrini

Created by: Icelander24
Team: 2024-25 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 24, 2024
Published: Feb. 25, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Completely ridiculous idea but, I need something to cope. Scenario where we fall to 7th pick and win lottery somehow. This team however would be very interesting for next year. Maybe they want the Isles to be interesting for the all star game in 2 years and rig it. A man can dream

Canes reject. They aren’t going to trade their most recent 1st round pick, a first round pick, and a middle six center for a middle six center and a AHL forward.

Nelson isn’t a middle-six center, he’s a 30 goal 70 point player who’s one of the best 2C in the league and would be an alright at 1C. Sounds kinda similar to Horvat last year except he was younger but you’re getting Nelson at 3 mil for 2 playoff runs so it evens out. I think that’s completely worth it.

Pager makes no sense for Ottawa unless he's 50% retained. Love him, and I'd REALLY love him for the PK, but if you're getting him it's to have him be a monster 4C. Ottawa's got 4 better Cs right now, Pageau at 5mil is completely non viable when they have contracts to be signed this summer for Pinto and Greig, both of whom are better.

He’s a middle six center on the Canes. He’s not the 2C the Canes are looking for. They will not agree to this deal.

This team is still a borderline playoff team

Pelech and pulock havent been as good since trotz left

And isles are just as good as developing talent as the rangers so I wouldn’t expect Celebrini to change the team

lol he’d be the top goal scorer on the canes . He’s miles better than every canes forward not on your top line. He’s good to have his 3rd straight season of 35 goals

If he’s so good, then why wouldn’t the islanders keep him? Lol in this scenario, you’re praying that Celebrini scores 35 goals since you need to replace the production

Did this really make you laugh out loud?

I continue to see this comment about a bunch of different players - he’d be the top this or that on the Canes. Your comment about being the top goal scorer on the Canes is easy to say but the circumstances are so far off that it’s simple a comment that doesn’t make any sense. You can’t just drop someone onto another team and assume the same outcomes.

Hope the laughs made your day better. Considering your comment that Nelson would be at best a 2nd line player on the Canes.

He’d be the 2nd line center because Aho is the 1st line C. The rest of the canes centers are low end 3rd liners at best.

Because the isles can get a great return for him and they can’t afford to re-sign him

Yea I guess, but it isn’t easy to replace his production. You can try with Toffoli and others. The smarter move would be to try and open up cap space by getting rid of JGP and Lee

Maybe they don't agree to this deal but calling Brock Nelson a middle six center is insane. He doesn't get any media attention so that's fine but it's hard to argue that production wise, Nelson isn't a top 15-20 Center in the NHL. If not for the shortened season he'd have 30 goals in 4 of 5 seasons and 25+ in 6 straight. All while playing in a defensive structure that kills offensive production. He's also a proven playoff performer.

If the Isles made him available (and ate $3m) this would be a bargain for what other teams would offer.

There isn’t an argument that anyone besides Aho and svexhnikov are better than Nelson. Canes forward group is comprised up a top line and mostly 3rd line caliber players . You’re deflecting because you know it’s the truth

He is the 2C, so he is a top 6 foward not a middle six. And he is playing on the first line too

https://x.com/AGrossNewsday/status/1761791323416473982?s=20

And this is the price you are going to have to pay for a 3 million dollar center for 1½ who scored 35+ goals the past 2 years

By your logic Leon Draisaitl is a middle six center. Brock Nelson is a 1C talent.

Isles aren’t making the playoffs this season , the value they can get for Nelson is worth more than the production he can give them next season.
