Leafs Full In Depth Offseason for 2024-25

Description
Tried to go pretty in depth and hopefully I was close in terms of what guys will sign for.

Taxi Squad are guys that’ll be sent down at the start of the year but I feel will play some games for the Leafs at some point. (Cowan 9 game trial)

I think the forward core looks decent for what it is although Duclair might cost a bit more, I was comparing it to what Domi got last year. They need to bank on Knies, Robertson and Minten to take a step.

I think the defence actually looks pretty solid, also involves Tanev taking a slight discount.

Goalies are a bit more of a question mark but hopefully a Woll-Kahkonen tandem could be solid. Sharks may keep him as they could offer him more than Leafs or the Sharks may trade him at the deadline, but if he’s available hopefully 3.2 million isn’t too far off.

  1. Timmins, Conor
Additional Details:
Not necessarily Chicago but maybe they take a shot on him. Could also be a later pick.

TOR
  1. 2025 3rd round pick (ANA)
ANA
  1. Järnkrok, Calle
Additional Details:
Jarnkrok is good and relatively cheap depth but I’m not sure if the Leafs will keep him. This trade doesn’t necessarily have to happen either, if they don’t sign Duclair or he won’t sign for that then they can just easily keep Jarnkrok and carry an extra skater. Also this could be to any team so probably not to Anaheim.

Timmins flaws can be hidden playing on a decent Toronto team but they'll be on full display in Chicago. We've had players like him in the past and they didn't work out so well. I'm not sure Chicago takes him for FC right now. They've already got bodies to fill spots. Now they're looking for the right fit and I doubt Timmins fits that bill.

1. The second line is a defensive black hole.

1a. I want nothing to do with Duclair. There is a reason he has been passed around the league.

2. I honestly think Minten benefits from a year with the Marlies. Zero need to rush him into the line up

3. I for one do not like the Tanev fit at all. Other options. Cheaper options.

4. I like the Carrier addition. Does more then many think.

5. Kahkonen is a gamble, but I have always thought he could be a solid split time tender. Feel last year was an outlier. Frankly for that money, I would sooner go with the more proven DeSmith, but this isn't horrible. Just don't see him getting over $3 million.

5. Overall, the forward core lacks tenacity. Knies has it. McMann can mic it up. Domi is a pest. And then..... um.... flat out need more.

Overall:

This isn't it. Team is too soft overall.

Top 6 on the blueline is much better, but then nothing. If this season has proved anything, the Leafs need a top 8. Where is it? A couple injuries and this team is in serious trouble.

Kappa isn't getting 3.2m. Kinda crazy to trade 2.1m Jarnkrok for nothing just sign the inferior 3m Duclair.
Minten should be a Marlie...playing centre
Please can't the Leafs have a 7th NHL Dman?
