Wouldn't do that from a Jets perspective.

Isles decline....Duclair is nothing and he's a UFA. I'm dealing Wally for another young player who needs a change of scenery too.

As a Sharks fan, I like it. Saw that NYI trade in an article. Getting a 1st to take Schmidt's bad contract seems fair, unless his M-NTC says no.

A 30 goal scorer and a good playoff run as recently as last year is … nothing, i do get him not being the right fit for a non playoff team tho!

in 9 seasons he has 3 years of more than 20 goals. In 3 of those years, he scored 11 or less goals. He disappears in the big games. He's not a good fit for us. We want younger players. Plus, I will not trade for any UFAs. Especially when we are sellers ourselves looking to get younger and help with the salary cap.

have you looked at the standings lately. He won't have a choice. we are 9 pts out of the last wild card spot with 4 teams ahead of us TB, Devils Wash and Pittsburgh. All of the have more wins ranging from 31 wins to 26. We have only 23. There is NO chance,....repeat NO chance we get into the playoffs and even Lou knows it now. And when our next games on the road are against Dallas and Detroit and we lose those handily we will be even further behind. Buffalo is even only 2 pts behind us with 27 wins.

We are currently 10th worst in the league. By the end of next week, we mostly likely will have a top 7 pick in the draft.

Schmidt has played like a 3rd pairing defenseman, no better, no worse. Its just that his contract is inefficient. I think his position on the Jets is safe for this season.

Yeah he's been decent, while overpaid he's made a very solid 3rd pair with Samberg and can still handle 2nd pair minutes when required, he's pretty good depth to have, would need Schmidt more then Barabanov for a long playoff run.

Just not worth a 1st to dump Schmidt, better to keep him for this playoff and buy him out in the summer if necessary.
