DNVR Roast My Roster

Description
DNVR! These trades fix Avs issues at 2C, 4C, and 2G.

I'm not "in-the-know" about the current trade market values, so I may be way off on some of these. But these are some pieces I'd like to see the Avalanche add. I think this would be a very dangerous playoff team.

Obviously, Nosek's injury history is a risk, but he's a veteran 4C that can kill penalties and is decent at faceoffs. He has been awful this season for the Devils, so he could be cheap. In return, the Devils can get a Olofsson, a sub-par 4C, and MacDermid, who can add some physicality to their roster as they battle for a playoff spot in a tough Metro division.

Henrique has been linked to the Avs, and I think he'd be a good fit. Idk about the asking price for him though. Anaheim is probably getting a lot of offers, so Avs may have to overpay here with a 1st round pick. I also dumped RyJo in this trade to help Anaheim meet the cap floor next year. At $4M, RyJo could be a decent fit on a rebuilding Ducks team. Avs might have to add a late-round pick or a prospect to make this work.

Fleury would be a fun veteran 2G for the Avs. I really have no idea about the asking price, or if he even wants to come to CO. I gave them Olausson who could help the Wild as soon as next year and a mid-round pick to get the cap retention.

Henrique gets us a little more than a 1st and then even more for taking your cap dump

Fluery not getting traded. Henrique gunna require extra if we’re dumping Johansen with him.

We'll need a RW or RD prospect to complete the Henrique trade.

Avs fan here. Macdermid has no value. Zero. Oloffson just cleared waivers. So I don't think that first trade gets Nosek. Second trade ducks probably say no. Third trade, Olausson just had season ending surgery. So he's probably not getting moved. But I do like the idea of getting MAF.

I'll agree with you on that. Maybe Avs add in another prospect or pick to make it work.

However, I don't think RyJo is as much of a burden as people seem to think. He's probably about $1M overpaid for his current production, but his biggest issue has just been his terrible fit in the Avs system. With a change of scenery, he could still be worth the $4M cap hit.

We don’t have a spot for him so to us he is a cap dump

Also just saw your description saying we have to get to the cap floor — we are there easily so it isn’t enticing that way either

Yeah those points make sense.

Maybe Meyers for Nosek makes more sense. I was trying to find a place to dump MacDermid where his physicality might provide an ounce of value, but he's otherwise useless. I'd like to see him fight Rempe, so that's why I grouped him in with the Devils deal.

And I didn't know about Olausson's recent injury. You're right, that absolutely destroys his trade value. Avs don't really have another top winger prospect, so Avs may have to give picks to get MAF (if he even gets traded)

Colorado has a problem they need to fix... wasting a roster spot and 4M in cap on a player that didn't fit. No team is going to bail them out of that self-made mess for free. The going rate for a full year @ 4M AAV is about a 2nd round pick.

For the record Anaheim has 52M committed to only 14 players for next season. I'm pretty sure they can spend another 20M on the rest of the roster without needing any "help".

I have no clue if Anaheim would take RyJo or not but you would have to add in a bit more for Anaheim to take it. Nosek trade is fine with me idk if any teams will target MacD but even in this situation if they did we probably get him back in free agency. Honestly I don’t think Minny trades Fleury but if they did, I would not be interested at paying this price. There’s other guys we could target who would do the same if not better than Fleury who would be cheaper. A guy like Martin Jones I think could be a good fit

Yeah I figured my Avs proposal for Henrique wasn't good enough. And I like Martin Jones for 2G. 2G really could be anybody with any experience. Annunen is fine, but doesn't have that experience. In an ideal world, the 2G will just take some of the starts from Georgiev leading up to playoffs and then doesn't see the ice again unless Georgiev melts down. Jones would be cheaper than Fleury, but less fun haha

Ya I think the fan base would love Fleury. The idea of RyJo and some more for Rico is great I just have no clue is Anaheim wants him or not but if I was doing a no retention Rico trade and dumping RyJo I would probably do RyJo a 2024 1st, 2025 3rd, and mid level prospect. Still not sure if Anaheim does that but it gets it closer for sure

Yeah that would probably work. I like Meyers personally. And yeah tough go for Olausson. He was having a decent run before he went down frown I think Sean beherens becomes the chip the avs will move.

Yeah I like Meyers too, but idk if he's going to get an opportunity in CO unfortunately. I could see Behrens getting traded, especially since Malinski has looked fantastic IMO, and they fill the same role.

Going to likely need to send a 3rd and a prospect to complete that Ducks trade. Fleury has already stated he has no interest in moving so he's basically out and there are better options anyway (that's way too much even with Olausson's injury). Unless the Devils are for some reason high on adding MacDermid that gets declined all day every day. Olofsson just went through waivers so you have to think if they'd had any interest there they'd have claimed him.
