Canucks decline, Zibanejad wouldn't mesh well with Tocchett and if EP40 was willing to sign for $9M he would have done it a long time ago, if he's signing in a Blue State like New York where the taxes are high he's gonna cost at least $13M.

Giving up a bit too much here.

You're looking at something more like

Mika + Lindgren + 2nd

Which is about the equivalent of 4 1sts.

That Pettersson contract is out of touch with reality, friend. As someone above has noted, our boy Petey is a 12-13m dollar player based on his performance, age, and position. As much as he may love NY over Vancouver (which no one actually knows), I doubt he loves it enough to leave 20-25 million on the table.

VAN wouldn't want Zibanejad, package would likely be Laf, Schneider, Perrault, and a couple 1sts.

I don't disagree with you about the contract being low, but doesn't Vancouver have one of the highest costs of living in North America?

Edit: Did a quick search. I rescind my question.

NYR should pass on that trade instantly. The difference between Zib and Pettersson is not Perreault, Cuylle and a 1st. It's not even just Perreault.

Only trade that works for NYR: One of Zib/Trocheck, one of Lindgren/Miller, one of Cuylle/kakko, 1st rounder. Anything more and they should run the other way. If it doesn't work for Vancouver oh well

Yeah I mean we couldn't afford it cap wise without moving Mika or Trouba.

Could easily just send Mika to a 3rd team. He alone would get 2 1sts + a big prospect. Could send Lindgren to get a late 1st + a solid prospect as well.

You'd get 3 1sts and a couple of prospects for Petey, and I'm not sure you're going to get a better offer since he has leverage in terms of where he's willing to sign long term/get traded to.
