If the Canes had interest in Mantha, than can take him at full freight if needed. They’ve been accruing cap space all year. If they wanted retention for Mantha for another move, they could just do it directly with Washington.

Fair enough, just saw Mantha moved around in a few ACGMs and figured TB could broker to get some assets back while getting a guy like Edmundson

I'm confused. What exactly is PIT getting back for Guentzel?

Eh, wouldn't call it that. Odds are JBB ends up adding anyways, but it wouldn't hurt to replenish the cupboards a little bit. No doubt he's going to add this deadline, but if the opportunity presents itself to add an asset or two for a fraction of the LTI space, why not

Whatever Vegas is giving them. I think they're just showing it from TBs perspective of what they're getting/giving as the 3rd party

Between Vegas and Pittsburgh, odds are they're in on Smith so I wouldn't really rule them out on Guentzel either. TB can just help hold the extra cap space for Vegas, that's about it.

I think the Sharks would prefer to re-sign Barabanov if he doesn't get a good return.

He's a really good player who's unfortunately had a brutal season, It would make more sense to just re-sign to a short term, higher AAV contract ( like 2 x $5.5) so the Sharks can have a good winger as some young guys are developing and if their still sellers in 2 years, he may be a better trade asset (since they'll have more retention slots with Burns contract expiring too)
