  1. Tkachuk, Brady
Additional Details:
We have learned to adapt without Dougie…and have plenty of offense from back line…maybe he is candidate to move. Picking an unlikely trade candidate here, but maybe Uncle Fitzy pulls one off.

I'm sure Ottawa wants to take on 9 mil for an aging constantly injured Dman in exchange for their franchise

No chance Dougie waives his NMC for Ottawa and doubt Ottawa wants him.

There is a reason a guy with his talent has been on so many teams.

Sens decline

It would take a massive offer to get Brady. Wouldn’t even do it for Bratt

Realistically for the Sens there’s 2 types deal I’d be interested if im moving Tkachuk . These are just examples:

Either a stud young player 1 for 1 or close to 1 for 1 example McTavish or Nemec.

Or something along the lines of :

Peterka, Quinn or Perfetti or similar
1st
Mid level decent prospect
2nd

You mean a Jack Eichel that wanted to have surgery that no one wanted him to do or were comfortable doing , was getting paid 10 mill , no one knew if he’d ever be the same and only wanted to go to a couple teams? Yeah I know him

Maybe but we can’t afford Dougie to that much money with Chabot and Sanderson already making a lot

A Jack Eichel who was a top 8 hart finisher playing a much more valuable position.

Meier comp is the most realistic one out there

1st+2nd+Shakir level prospect+Zetterlund type asset

I’m sorry but Tkachuk can be traded to all 31 teams . 1000000000000000% there will be a massive bidding war if he’s available. He’s the missing piece for a lot of teams

There was a massive bidding war for Timo Meier too who could actually be traded to every team considering his much smaller cap hit year 1

Except Meier wasn’t willing to sign an extension with most teams which would brought down his value .

There is no precedent for a player like Brady Tkachuk with term and no clauses on his deal while also being a unicorn player that a lot of teams could use

There are examples of better players than Tkachuk with term and no protections being traded. Eichel.

There are multiple recent examples of players with Tkachuk’s “grit” and “unicorn” being traded: Matthew (a player 2 tiers above Brady) and Meier (a player with virtually identical production)

But no, there is no super duper perfect comp out there. There never is.

Matthew only wanted to sign an extension with 4 teams .

And he still got back a 115pt player, a #1D and a 1st round pick

4 teams is plenty for a bidding war.

Matthew again WAS an 100+ point player himself. And he brought back an 100+ point rental and a pending UFA dman

So sure, Brady as an 80 point player could bring back an 80 point rental. Guentzel+Marcus Pettersson+1st from Pitt for example

That would be an overpay tho tbf considering just how big the gap is between Matthew and Brady, especially Matthew at 8x9.5 vs Brady at 4x8.2

To use Florida.

Carter Vergaeghe+Aaron Ekblad in the offseason for Tkachuk+1st (I sent the 1st the other way because Matthew is 2 1sts better than Brady)

Or if it was this past offseason
Forsling+Reinhart+1st for Tkachuk

Or maybe Boeser+Hronek for Tkachuk, Buchnevich+Parayko,

Marner+Reilly for Tkachuk+1st (again multiple 1sts of a gap between Brady and Matthew)

Not a unicorn player (unicorns don’t exist btw)

But young productive player who had just signed long-term extension.

I am not saying it happens. It was more about building a lineup without Dougie…
