Just out of curiosity, why should Frank Vatrano be worth less than Jake Muzzin?

That's the package I would accept for Frankie alone.

You guys want a lot I get it. But how much more sheesh. Schneider is damn near an untouchable. And a RHD you guys crave

I’d accept with Lundy included if that was a 2024 1st

Ooooh a tough guy 😳
I really don’t know what you mean. Jake Muzzin hasn’t been relevant in years

I think I’d move on to other things after this conversation tho. Schneider and first is a lot. Don’t push people away or anything, and you’ll get nada except 35-40 meaningless goals next year too. Lucky you. Maybe you want your goalies facing 50 shots a night idk

I feel like we gotta be a bit more real guys. Vatrano for Schneider straight up feels like a win in my book

You act like YOU are doing US a favor by taking our best scorer off our hands. No, no, no, no, no. We are giving YOU what YOU think is the missing piece that's going to get you over the top, in return for a guy who, however good he is or how high his future ceiling may be, is third on your depth chart at RhD and unlikely to rise higher as long as Fox and Trouba are healthy. As you yourself admit in this ACGM, Schneider is expendable.

If Muzzin is too far in the past to be relevant to you, fine, look at the Lindholm and Monahan trades this calendar year. If a valuable player on an expiring contract is worth a first, then a valuable player who has a whole 'nother season on his deal and thus two playoff runs for you should be worth substantially more. I may be ambitious in wanting Schneider as well as the first, or even greedy as my esteemed colleague @jded says, but I think that the point is still valid.

Man that’s a lot of bs for not saying much, and he’s off the table. I’ll move on

Do you actually believe that Vatrano and Muzzin are comparable in any way? Is this because they have term? Because in no way are they the same player, not the same position. Vatrano almost 30 has been nothing but a middle 6 guy regardless of team. Being labeled top scorer on team isn’t a compliment to his skills, it’s an obvious sign that the team is just that bad(not attacking in anyway but it’s factual and shows in the standings). Muzzin played top line D and had 2 cups. He wasn’t just a guy that played top line he was a guy that noticeably made his partner better. Dmen always costs more, their trade value is always higher. Chiarot is a great example of how Dman cost more than forwards. Vatrano has value but nowhere near what you think and certainly not Muzzin value.

Zero chance we trade Schneider. Frank's cap doesn't fit next year, we need it for a 3c & Ds not Ws
