Okay, this has come up again... do you mean any Buch to CAR trade, or just any Buch trade in general?

This is a crazy large amount of value, but I find it alarming how all these supposed insiders don't understand the Blues' primary need. It's not exactly a secret or hard to figure out.

Just Buch to Carolina... The upgrade that he's gonna provide just does not make it worth it to spend roster assets to get a guy who isn't used to the system and is gonna take a long time to integrate with the system. Every single new skater struggles with the Hurricanes system for about three months before figuring it out and it's just not worth it with the playoffs right around the corner

Buch wouldn’t pull necas by himself

Canes aren't the type to trade a team controlled young player for one in his late 20's who i doubt they would re-sign. It would have to be almost exclusively futures. Swap Necas with someone like Morrow and that probably gets the conversation started.

I understand the Canes don’t make these moves. But Buch is a better player than Necas right now. Scouting reports on this website even show that. If the Blues retained on Buch, he’d also only cost 2.9 next season. Necas is more than likely going to cost you $8m per on long term deal next season. And you can say the Canes won’t pay that but that is what other wingers of his age/performance have gotten recently.

No one is disagreeing with where buch and necas are but age and contract control figure into value in trades. That fact swings the value in Necas’ favor especially with there not a huge gap in the 2 players
