Just came off the nhlpa program and immediately sent down? Clearly his on ice game has fallen off but to be waived after coming back is definitely strange

Just curious if caps fans have any insight

Have they released him for the intent of letting him go outright or just assigned him to the AHL knowing that no one is going to claim him?

Not sure what your surprise is about haha. They've been having well documented issues over the last several years. Many trade requests, etc. It's definitely a scummy move to do it immediately after the player's assistance, but we don't know the full story. They did the same thing with Vrana. I guess it's just how DC rolls...
