Its a large trade, but I think the Leafs would do this!

Definitely adds some grit to the leafs bottom 6 & improves the defence

Yeah for sure...I think the Leafs would even do it without NAK, they have a bit of a logjam in the bottom 6 now.

I think Jensen should be a prime target for the Leafs with his term and cost, and Dowd replaces Kampf at almost half the cap hit, I like it...well done my friend.

No they wouldn’t. There’s no interest in them moving Kampf right now - he’s loved by the coaching staff and a key part of the PK. & honestly nothing this offer has coming back to Toronto is worth a 1st to them. Toronto walks away pretty easy from this one

I would be surprised if the leafs were to make this deal as well

Accurate. Nothing moves the needle here. Just wasteful for TO.

So you’re telling me if Toronto had Nic Dowd & Jensen they would be healthy scratches?

No, they are just bodies that in no way really improve the team. Dowd may offer a bit more offence than Kampf but less defence which I would rather have on the 4th line. Jensen is just another 3rd pair defenceman who doesn't really improve the team.

I think the Jets would trade for Edmunson to use as depth/injury insurance. Not sure what the price would end up being though.

Niemela isn’t that highly valued of a prospect. He’s overhyped by Leafs fans dramatically

I disagree. I think he's undervalued by most. He isn't going to be a star but he's going to be a solid player. Two way guy who will just be solid all the time. Positionally sound, smooth as hell and very effective. Doesn't have to be a start to have value and he will and does have value.

In the world we live in though most who don't think he's going to be a start just throw him into the trash because if you aren't good you're terrible to most in this world. Just black and white nonsense.

He’ll most likely be what TJ Brodie is now - position sound defensively but much offence at all to his game and not physical. Likely a #4 d-man.. those are a dime a dozen to find. Nothing special. He’s overhyped because he’s the Leafs best right handed shot defensive prospect when they haven’t had a good right handed defenceman in 30 years. Doesn’t mean he’s good. & he’s not that highly valued around the league, I can tell you that for free

He actually does have a bit of an edge to his game and definitely more offence than Brodie. More like an Anton Strahlman type. He could surprise and be way better offensively than we predict but definitely more of a two way guy.

A right handed Brodie is a dime a dozen? Geez that is news to literally everyone

I think you’re watching the wrong player after that evaluation

It’s funny cause even the scouting report here on capfriendly literally says “cannot be described as a physical player” … but sure. I’m gonna trust RipNasty who knows everything!

IMO, worse... But I'm higher on Lilly than most... Thinking the Leafs should lock up Lilly for as long as possible

You don't have to hit everyone all the time to be physical. He will throw a big hit from time to time. Similar to Sandin but with a bigger frame. He still needs to add muscle but he's 6 feet so getting into the 180's is absolutely likely going to happen by next year.

Probably worse. Liljegren still has more to his game he just hasn’t put it together. Liljegren is more mobile and has more offensive instincts but Niemela should be better defensively
