ngl I doubt you have the assets required. Guys like Ferraro, Granlund and Rutta have value, but not enoguh on their own to get a prospect like that. Since it seems impossible to make the money work moving 3-4 players to a contender, I doubt its doable.

I honestly don’t know if Rangers would be willing to give up Perreault. Barring some wild offer like Couture at 50% retention, Duclair, Ferraro and you guys taking Goodrow lol

You're correct that the Sharks don't have the players to make these trades, but they have picks and prospects. Consider everthing on the table except Will Smith (for obvious reasons) and the 2024 1st unprotected.

Gabe Perreault does not help them win now. He wont play for them this year, and he will likely not play for the Rangers next year. However, if you think that an unprotected 1st from SJ in 2026 is not a good idea, then you're not in tune with the prospects out there.

Last time the Caps traded a prospect this valuable, we got 2 goals from Martin Erat, and a couple hundred games from Michael Latta for Filip god damn Forsberg. Leonard isn't moving.

Why is that? They already know what Gabe will be, and trading for any lottery first doesn't guarantee the 1st overall pick anyway. They got lucky as hell getting Gabe where they got him, and there is ZERO reason to trade him.

I wasnt saying it was good or bad business, (even though i side closer to bad) this is a video game trade, not something a actual NHL gm would consider, especially one with as such current pressure as Drury.

Because its SJ, the 2026 1st round draft pick isn't really a video game trade. This is the year Gavin McKenna will be eligible for the draft. Given SJ's situation, an unprotected 1st puts you in a pretty solid lottery position.

I hear ya, but Drury might be fired if they flake out in the playoffs this year....best case scenario is that he makes his successor look good which no GM ever wants to do lol

But this trade has nothing to do with this year or the next because Perreault likely wont be a roster player yet. This is completely independent of this year.

Just taking a stab at this-
For Leonard, start w Musty and take the Kuznetsov cap dump. Maybe add Granlund as an offensive C to help get Ovechkin over the line. Maybe one more (B or C level?) piece.
For Perreault, start w the 2024 Pittsburgh pick assuming it conveys, since Dolan reportedly wants to have something to celebrate at the draft at his venue. Take Goodrow as a cap dump and offer Sturm as a replacement (cheaper and shorter term). May have to overpay to complete the set… ideally just Duclair 50% retained as a rental but they could demand more.
I don’t think it’s worth it for SJS, as Musty and the Pens pick are worth a lot and I’d prefer they get assets to take on cap dumps.
