3-Way Deal

Created by: PurpleHippo
Team: 2023-24 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 4, 2024
Published: Mar. 4, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
STL: Posted by a STL fan, seems to work for both sides. Note you aren't retaining on Sunny, ANA is (but for ease I put retention in this trade of the ACGM). I would also do Akey, idk who you value higher between him and Broberg.

WSH: I've posted this lots and no one seems to disagree that it works.

ANA: This can be whatever team needs a 4-5 RHD, doesn't need to be ANA.

Getting a first for Faulk? Sure, why not. Retention for a few years? Ehhhh.... not so sure

Also, wonder if Faulk utilizes that NTC to block a trade to Canada

I would assume so, but maybe he really wants a cup chance with EDM.

Yea totally fair, Ceci is a good stay at home dman so I thought he may be ok as a stop gap for you guys while Hellson and Luneau develop.
I get not wanting another contract though.

Besides Radko whos on your RH side rn?

Like previously stated. Faulk waiving might be an issue to this, but I also think you could cut out the 3rd party and the Blues could potentially take back Ceci.

The biggest question mark was his NTC, I have no idea if Faulk wants to come north.

Yea could just remove ANA from the equation if you want Ceci, he plays well as a 4-5 Dman.

I have a slightly better 3-team idea, give me a moment and I'll post it.

I'm sure we can find a 3rd team broker for Ceci, wasn't sure if STL wants him.
Also, this is the trade I was referring to from the other thread.

As a Caps fan I think it works. Depends how Caps brass view Copponi. If they like him then yes.

I don't think we're in a position to trade a RHD without some sort of a RHD coming back. I'm not generally opposed to this deal although I really don't like the retention.

I don't think Faulk is the answer on defense, and I think STL fans response to this speaks volumes.

Dowd isn't worth a 1st IMO, and Edmonton would have Lindgren on waivers the next day as he isn't better than either Skinner or Pickard.

Ceci is worth more than a 4th and a few thousand bucks retention for 6 weeks.

Faulk answers some of the questions for us, better offensively and defensively than Ceci, plus playing with Nurse will assist in his play (he currently plays with Krug and bares a brunt of work due to it).
I also know a number of our fans would rather a primarily shutdown RHD, I would rather a 2-way RHD for Nurse (though Faulk does lean more offensive than I'd like).

Dowd isn't worth a first, this is a bit of an overpay, however I would put Lindgren above Pickard and Dowd provides us with a great shutdown 4th line.

For us to upgrade on RHD we need to move Ceci out, he is by no means a negative asset but very few teams are going to take him thus his inclusion in the 3rd party retention deal.

Do you really think Faulk is better defensively than Ceci? That's rich.

He is, Nurse carry's a large load with him defensively, Ceci is fine for where he is but an upgrade there is EDM's next logical step IMO.
Will really depend where Holland takes us though.

So, in your opinion Faulk is much better offensively and also better defensively than a guy who is a legit NHL top-4 defender. But you aren't curious as to why St. Louis fans are so eager to get rid of Faulk, even with multimillion dollar retention? Not even a little bit?

Perhaps they know something you don't?

Or perhaps he doesn't fit their window anymore as they are in a retool, or they want to clear contract room for their numerous upcoming RFA's, or they see value in Broberg who may match their perceived window. Ceci is fine, Nurse helps him a lot and very much carry's the line, but he does fine. I would like to shift to a defender who helps Nurse more, if you want to keep status quo and upgrade elsewhere thats alright too.
