what if.... anyone who is getting a little long in the tooth realises that they will not be part of chasing a cup if the flames rebuild and they all ask for a trade except Huberdeau (who Conroy couldn't give away) and Backlund wants to finish his career in Calgary

What happened to Cgy owners dont retain?
If so then yes. I know you want Holtz, I'm just not sure he was part of the trade. I know that's the rumor, just don't see fitzy doing it. Less retention and player is Bahl works over here.

I don't know where that the Flames won't retain rumor came from. Retention has only been around for 10 years, and half those deadlines the flames were buyers, 3 they did nothing. So 1 out of 2 deadlines they were sellers they retained salary. The other one they traded Iginla and Bouwmeester and neither team needed retention to add the players so why would they pay extra for it?
